painting emblems

i know that at my local custom shop i can buy gunmetal toyota emblems but theyre like 40 bucks so i hope i can figure out how to do it myself... ya i think im goingto do that too . maybe ill check out a hobby/craft store

My emblem is gunmetal. I just used spray paint to do it. I lightly sanded off as much of the chrome as I could then used an adhesion promoter and then painted it. I sprayed about 4-5 light coats and about 2 coats of clear coat. It's been painted for about 2 years now and looks like it did that day I painted it.

where did you get teh gunmetal paint from? does it look good, could you possibly put a pic

I can get a pic tomorrow when the sun is out...I think I used testors paint beacuse it has good adhesion to plastic.

painting emblems

i was jsut wondering if ther is anyway to paint my emblems like a gumetal. i was thinking maybe something like a spray paint taht would tint the crome to a darker shade. is there such thing?

I was thinking about doing this too if I paint my rims. Probably should just go to walmart and check out the spray paint.

I finally got an emblem back on the front of the car, and am planning on doing the same thing. Make sure you sand it down so that there is no shine. Use 600 equal grit sandpaper. If there is any shine, you risk having the paint peel off later.
