And no, TRD USA does not make most of its parts, but they are made by very reputable manufacturers to TRD specs, so they are still a quality product designed specifically for our cars...

I thought 98-02 = Greddy

regardless i have a 2000 and i wana know is there a comparable one to the trd in sound and performance gain by greddy or magnaflow or whoever makes it

ive read in various places that trd muffler are manufactured by magnaflow if this is true which model magnaflow muffler would it be if not is there any mufflers with similar resonance to the trd one, borla perhaps

It depends for which car and what year.

I have a TRD muffler. Its all looks and sound. Dont really have any perfomance gains. Actually lost some low end torque for high end torque.

don't expect any performance from a muffler because you'll be greatly disappointed. I have a performance magnaflow, but not the TRD one. It has a 3.5" outlet, and it's DAMN LOUD. You will need to get a silencer to install with the tip. I like it because it offers a very nice deep tone. When I get my turbo setup, it's gonna have more of a kick in the sound.

If you really want the TRD look a like then just go to the Magnaflow webpage and look at their product section.

ok question does the silencer make the muffler completely silent or do you still have a deep sort of tone?

i mean it seems that the mufflers out there are either silent or abnoxiously loud is there any that sound nice

Mine does..I have a 2.25&quot; catback, resonator, and a straight-thru muffler (Larsen/Larson..something like that -- from a local shop). It's been mistaken for a V6.. <img src="http://vvti.net/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" />

ne1 have ne experience with the magnaflow street series mufflers, NOT the race series ,i figure since theyre the street series they may be somewhat nicer sounding

so what silences/muffler combo will achieve ideal resonance? its up to the individual i know but i think we all agree that we dont like the ricer buzz

I have reversed louvred in mine, because my car got a lot louder than expected when I had my cat-back made.

You can also put a glass pack inline to act as a resonator. It will help deepen and remove any tinny sounds. I had one added to my cat-back and it really helped out a lot.

$15 - $20. The have perforated (less effective, but doesn't rob power) and louvered (more effective, but robs a slight amount of power). I had mine welded where my stock resonator was. If you go with the louvered (am I spelling that right?) one, have the shop install it backwards (openings facing back).

The stock resonator is louvered. Peck on it and if it makes a resonating "ting" sound, it's more than likely a louver design. Stock 2003 Corollas have louvered resonators.

On my 03, I have a Magnaflow 5"x8" SS turbo muffler with 2.5" inlet/outlet and custom 2.5" piping from resonator to the muffler since what's on the car is the most restrictive part of the system. The sound is deep and mellow - not harsh or raspy AT ALL. Sounds very good, IMHO.

For the 03+ Corollas, Borla turbo mufflers and TRD mufflers look identical, if that means anything.

I paid a grand total of $200 for the muffler, tip, piping and installatin. You can buy your own muffler, get custom piping and tip with intallation with great sound for a LOT less than the TRD muffler. That's my advice.
