just go download a pirated version of norton or something, its easy....see with a free copy your subscription never runs out becuase you can just reinstall with a new cd key, and bingo, you are good for another year....stay away from norton 2005, its got some bugs, its doesnt really work well with office 2003 pro....stick to norton 2004 pro.....

alright norton isnt that great....it really does remove nothing, it just detects it.....but PC cillin? that program is awful, piece of junk.....
anti virus software altogether is junk come to think of it.....its useless, it just tells you the virus is there, what it should do is stop it from getting in your computer, which no antivirus software ive encountered can do, by the time the virus is on your comp, its already to late, what you need is a personal firewall.....like norton personal firewall, there are many others.....but it will actually stop people from getting into your comp, not let them do it and tell you about it later

if you just want to remove spam and crap, get ad-aware personal, nothing beats it

I tried avast and found it slowed my system down more and took longer to scan than AVG.. but avast did have maybe 5% better detection.

Man, I'm glad I don't have the problems that normal people have when it comes to protecting your computer from virus, and hackers. I work for a security software company, and my software is free. To top that, it never needs an update to fight new viruses. It stops what security people call 0-day exploits. That means if I was to create a virus at this very instance, and launch it against a machine that has our software on it, the virus first off, would not run, secondly it would be eradicated, not quarantined. Unfortunately, it's not available for the public yet. We are to busy with the government sector.

Not true anymore.... Firewalls work to an extent. They can be circumvented. And by all means you should have something that monitors network traffic. But there is a security software that does what you described. It's more than just another AV product. It goes far beyond the capabilties of traditional AV software. However, the government sector must be tackled before we go into the commercial world. Take a look.. http://bbxtechnologies.com/

I've used AVG too and I do like it. Another one that is really good, I do not know if they have a free version anymore but Panda makes a decent Antivirus suite. :)
