    2 q's about painted interior

hey whats up guys. i recently painted more peices of my interior, including my glove box, center console, door trim and some others. i was wondering if it was still ok to clean these peices with armor all dash wipes without damaging the finish? i was also wondering if brushing on krylon fusion paint was just as effective as spraying it on? the reason why i ask is because i want to get my dash painted without removing the dash, because its a bitch to do.. thanks.

i think if u brush it you will be able to tell, you can see brush marks, i would just tape everything up, put garbage bags by the windshield and start spraying

Yes, you can brush on the Krylon fusion. The paint is very thin so that it conforms to whatever texture it's applied to. I painted my passenger side vinyl with paint of the same consistency and there are no brush marks.

Also, I wouldn't use armor all on the painted pieces for two reasons. One is that it might eventually lift the paint or ruin the finish. Second, if you ever need to repaint the pieces because they get scratched, armor all will make it nearly damn impossible for the paint to adhear properly.

vamp: where'd you find black? the website only shows red/yellow/blue/silver. Stuff looks cool, someone could really do some nice interior work with that stuff if they mask it properly

I found black at my local autostore. Plastikote makes one for vinyl as well. My basic rule is Plastikote vinyl for the vinyl only, and Krylon fusion for the plastic. If you have to put masking tape on any painted surfaces (like between a plastic and vinyl piece), be sure to use the blue painters tape so that it won't pull the paint off.

sweet. ya masking everything off and spraying it would just be too hard with the windsheild being in the way. maybe if i got the windsheild off? nah, that just seems like a killer job. well i guess this saturday im going to go mask everything off and paint my dash! whats the best thing to use to mask everything off?

Just brush paint the area near the windshield. As for masking, I use masking tape, newspapers, and garbage bags.

Yeah just put newspaper over the windshield. It's pretty easy to spray the dash that way.

When I did my dash I took everything out except for that main dash piece. Just cover everything in newspaper and masking tape. Taking the windsheild out would be way harder than just taking the whole dash out.

As for armor all, it works pretty well on painted surfaces without lifting any off for me. If you ever want to repaint it though it could cause a problem.
