how is it that the same engine for a corolla only has 120hp but when in a celica it can produces 140hp?

It's all in the tuning. Hence the fact the Corolla/Matrix 1ZZ-FE is ULEV certified, whereas the Celica/MR-2 variety of the 1ZZ-FE is only LEV certified.

Keep in mind that the Celica engine does have VVTi..the 98-99s do not (that's the 5hp difference mentioned above).

The Celica has a different intake manifold, different ECU, and probably a better exhaust as well.

The eManage will help along with other mods that you've done to your car. Don't expect to get 20HP out of it though. The Celica's also have a higher redline than us, and that's something you can't change without modding the ECU or changing it out all together.

Nice to see ya again Vamp. :)

    -- I agree --

the eManage wouldn't give ya 40hp (maybe 10 w/o other mods).

    eManage is good for:

modding the map sensor signal (usually done for n/a or turbo or nitrous)
running larger injectors (usually done only with turbo and recommended for big bore setups)
running sub injectors (usually done with turbo and/or nitrous)
modding ignition parameters (usually done only with turbo and/or nitrous)
connecting to your boost controller (only done with profec e-01 and only done on turbo setups)

    e-01 owns me... :)

Hey man, sorry to hear about your ride. Yeah, not having my car for a while and having some drama in my life caused me to leave for a while. Anyway, yes, 10 HP sounds about right. I was able to that much out of my car after I had mine tuned to work with my Celica intake manifold.
