Rim size question for auto X'rs.

Ok, for you autocrossers out there.... What size of rim do you perfer? I've heard that 17's are nice since you don't feel like you're driving on bubbles.

Any info would be appreciated.

i think most people run 15x7 or 16x7

well, the smaller you go the faster you accelerate.... i know of folks going from 15s to 13s

and if you spent some money on race tires it doesnt matter how much sidewall youve got, its going to be stiff and suited for racing

why not look at available tire sizes and then buy a wheel that fits, try the new kumho auto-x tire

Id get some lightweight 15" for a Corolla in an auto x event.

I like running 14" with 195/60/14 with high PSI. I usually run about 50 psi up front and between 40-45 in the back. I have yet to run on a sidewall.

i dont know to mcuh about tires but i know that im getting 17"s with lo pros and the overall diameter is the same as stock so i wont screw with your speedometer or anything

shouldnt this thread be under suspension?

i like the road holding of my 17s with 205/40.

16s may be the best choice for the tighter auto-x courses but i prefer 17s for the street and track.

a set of light weight 15's, max 16's for ur 93-97 rollas w/ good racing tires

How are Motegi's? Anyone know much about them? I live near Summit and that's the main import style they carry.

mortegi are show car rims, get some Volk TE37's. BuddyClub P1's are pretty popular around my area.. Rota and Konig also make some pretty lightweight cast wheels. And Enkei make some light weight forged at some decent prices. Oh, and the 5Zigen FN01 (gram light wannabes) and GN+ are decent as well. Work Emotion CR isnt bad either

As for Tires, everyone seem to love their Falken Azenis Sports, including me.. I typically run Azenis up front and all seasons in the rear. I also keep the contact patch on the front larger than the rear to decrease understeer.

haha you know i would get te37's..i love those rims..just make sure if you get those, dont get faked for rota grids..

one way to tell, teh lug holes on the grids match up to the spokes and inbetween, on real volks, the lug holes do not match up with anything

good tip, I usually check for the inside sticker and the word "forged" on the other side of the spoke but I usually cant tell when they are mounted.
Should've seen JGTC, half the cars were runnin on TE37 Mags and every car's garage had at least 4 sets.
