    What exactly is lift?

Well, I've been reading statements such as "When I hit lift...", "Oh my god, I love the feeling of lift..." etc etc, and I was just wondering what exactly is it. I have an idea of what it is, but I'm not clear on it exactly, so, could some please explain it or give me a link to an explanation? I searched google, but I kept getting results for lift kits for Toyota trucks and shiz.

    Thanks! :D

I think they are refering to VVTI. In the new XRS, when the car hits around 5k RPM's the engine picks up, and some people refer to it as "lift".

there is a lot more to lift than that. vvtl-i is in the 2zz-ge out of the matrix xrs, corolla xrs and celica gts. i know on the 03 matrix xrs lift is engaged at 6200 rpm. (i know this because i have one being put in to my 98 rolla). once you hit that rpm it changes the cam shaft profile and takes you from 127 hp to 180 hp.

thats the jist of it. if you want to go into some reading on it here ya go, just download the pdf file on it. http://www.zzforums.net/media/docs/2zz-ge_dev.pdf
