    Car Alarm (Personalized)

I wanted to go ahead and get an alarm system for my car now that i have to park outside now. but, instead of all the 'basic' stuff that it has, is there any way i could change somt things around like:

the car alarm be re-routed to a police siren (already have installed)
when alarm goes off, it triggers strobes in my headlights and taillights
instead of dome light, itll turn on my interior and exterior neons.

i dont need remote start, power windows or locks as i dont have any.

i dont want somthing real fancy, i just need the module and the sensors.

dont need a 2-way as a police siren with the strobes are guaranteed to grab someones attention.

can someone make me some reccommendations?

You can do that no problem. You just need to ask the installer to do it for you. If you want to do it yourself you just need to install a relay at the output positive wire going into the siren and have the relay power your police siren and strobes. Anyway you may need some resistors so the power does not spike back when turning off/on.

This is a pretty simple install, and it should not be that expensive if you have a shop do it. One thing do is you have such a loud siren you don't want to set your motion sensor to be that sensitive, if you decide to get one installed. You may also consider a delay for the police siren in case of false alarms it won't be so loud for you, and as a last option you can have the police siren only go off if the door is actually opened, this way you won't scare the crap out of everyone everytime the alarm goes off.

Any alarms made by DEI or even the Prestige line by audiovox are good and cheap. Go search ebay, and just get the regular alarms. Honestly I bought a no name alarm from ebay called Guardian and it was like 30 bucks. It came with everything including a backup battery for the module in case they disconnect the alarm. I installed it and it works flawlessly. Sure some of the fancier alarms have more features and have nicer controls, but as soon as you open them up they are all made in taiwan with the same circuitry.

I personally have CompuStar installed on my ride..goes up to 1.25miles on teh pager...but it all depends on how much ur willing to spend. mine cost 550.00 installed. Only thing is that the CompuStar has to be installed by an authorized dealer or else it will void the warrenty.

Good Luck! and let us know how it works out!

I'm sure it can be done..I've seen an alarm hooked up to strobes before. and last week i saw a car alarm hooked up to the underbody light kit. anything is possible (I think..lol).

OH and i'd use the police siren as a backup siren just in case someone cuts the wires to the regular siren...this ensures that the sirens always sound no matter what..
