    comcast is down!

gah.. I can't surf anywhere! every DNS lookup fails.. I think the DNS server for the internet crashed or was attacked. I can get here cause I know the IP address :D

I guess it's just comcast then.. cause every www address I try fails.. and I've talked to people across the country and they have the same problem.

It's working off and on. So far I know the Comcast DNS servers died. it may be related to a DNS cache poisoning vulnerability that wasn't patched. but if you can change your router settings add 4.2.2.2 to your nameservers list.

this is verizon's nameserver and works for some people, not me though cause I can't change router settings.

True, I guess thats a good point, but I dont have to worry about any of this being on a college campus and all. I had aol for awhile though and I was not a fan of the speed.

There was a day once where the servers for the entire Phoenix metro area were down for about 15 minutes.

I had sporadic access to locally hosted sites like www.asu.edu, but the moment I tried going anywhere else it wouldn't go out. I even called a friend, he experienced the same thing (he has Cox cable, I have Qwest DSL).

This is a site I use to check the status of the internet, very nice:

If your DNS servers go down - just use some other ones in your network configuration... I maintain all my own so I always use em... if it breaks, the only person I can kick in the ass in me. :)
