what made u buy a volvo? just wondering.

they are strong and safe cars but i think the reliability ain't that good. friend of mine bought an 04' V40 back in feb. this year and just 2 months ago... he was driving along and all his idiot lights lit up and it just scared the shit out of him. :)
he took it in for service and they replaced something, apparently it was defective. last month, he bought another volvo - a V50. nice car but the front/rear looks ugly. :)

The only downside that I know of is Volvo's can only can only be serviced by dealerships. Or is that just an old myth?

The old s40's were designed and powered by mitsubishi. They've been pretty reliability wise
