    fixing dented rim?

couldnt find a post on this topic.
does anyone know the ballpark price for repairing dented rims...the streets i drive on constantly have potholes. most of the damage has been done to the front right rim lip. its not too bad, but if you look at it from a 'birds eye view' you can see the dented lip jutting out. the scratches i dont really care about, but the dent has got to go. how much per rim is it usually?

also, why is it that theyre denting...they might be pretty obvious, but i just wanted to make sure.
    1) rims from wheelsnext (all i could afford at the time)
    2) plus sized 3" (from 14" to 17"). was that a bad idea?
    3) do all plus 3" sized rims dent easily?? or is it just because of the quality of my rims....ive also heard of forged rims..?

    any help is appreciated.

ANY rim will dent with low profile tires. There needs to be some "meat" there to cushion the rim. Otherwise, it'll be the same problem.

Well you can go with forged wheels - not as likely to "dent" as cast wheels. But a 17" - 40 series rubber - like CorollaULEV mentioned, not enough "meat" to protect the wheel. I personally would have gone with a PLUS +2 (16" wheel with 45 series rubber). Just a tad tougher, but sometimes you will not be able to find a particular style unless you look at 17" or bigger.

As far as repair prices - a place like Wheel Collision Center, http://www.wheelcollision.com, can staighten that out from $75 tp $180+. Unless you are particularly attached to them or they were very expensive or hard to get - I would just get it replaced.

With my Corolla - even with the 16" forged wheels, I still managed to bend one over the past two years.
