    lowering options for the 03+...

I'd really like to lower my 03+ Corolla.

On my old 1990 Camry I had Intrax lowering springs and KYB GR-2 gas struts and the ride was good - very stiff.

Do I have an options like that on the Corolla. Coil-over is just the coil and strut sold together, right?? What's so special about coil-overs?

Is it possible to get springs and struts separately? I've saw plenty of lowering springs, but no performance struts.

Lastly, I'm pretty happy with the handling characteristics of my Corolla right now. I just don't like the huge fender-gap. By putting on lowering springs, is it a necessity to change the struts? I've heard they will go bad within a period of time (like a year or so). If so, what are the options there to keep that from happening - new struts, not dropping it too far? I've been thinking of the Tein S. Tech springs - any other suggestions? I'm not looking to slam it to the ground - I'd like around a 1.5-2.0" drop or so. Something modest.

    Any suggestions/comments welcome.

    Late,

Do you need aftermarket struts? Can you use a lowering kit with stock struts? With lowered and stock struts, will you have bouncing? The existing struts on my Corolla seem pretty stiff as is.

    Any experience with this?

I had to replace my stock struts after a year (20,000 miles). they didn't dampen as well after awhile. I went with the Koni Yellows which have an adjustable dampening rate.

The REALLY big thing I'm concerned with is whether or not to replace the struts. Not so much coming from a performance standpoint (I know performance struts are always a good idea), but from a longevity standpoint. Will having a 1.5" drop screw my struts up or cause them to check out before their time?
