i might get a 1988 corolla coupe from ebay

I found this 1988 Corolla coupe on ebay going for $32 right now. Im thinking of getting is and fixing it up. It just has a small problem where it thumps when shifting in reverse and leaks tranny fluid but it should be easy to fix considering its a small car. Since its a coupe wouldnt it be a fx? Also, does this car have 13 or 14 inch wheels and does it have a 4 speed or 3 speed and 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive? Also, since im not familiar with these earlier ones what is the output of these engines? And last but not least what is the best engine I "drag and drop" in without any modifications? Would it be possible to put a 1zzfe engine. It probably wouldnt be but I thought I'd ask just in case. Heres the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

You should askk the guy what his reserve is that way you can have a better idea what his price range is. I think he probably has a $500 reserve if not more. I say start maybe with something a little more sportier, or better. BTW it is a hatch, not a coupe.

no way the guy is gonna sell it for $32 man. I'm sure the reserve is at least a few hundred bucks. $32 isn't even worth the hassle of putting it on ebay lol.

I personally think you can find a better project car than that one. Not only are they slow as balls (esp auto), I personally think it's the ugliest corolla model ever sold in the US.

an ae82 hatch with a gze swap is a fast car...... and they're one of the better sleeper cars out there.....

lowrolla... if you run across an fx16 or fx16 gts (same body) don't expect to beat it in a race.... they're pretty quick as well

The car looks ugly as sin. And I doubt you will get it as cheaply as you would like too get it for.

LOL... the "forgotten" Corolla. My granny has one.

There was the rare GTS version of that car that came with a 4AGE engine and MR2 like side skirts.

EDIT... Auction won at $180, lol "reserve met"

^^^ an fx16 has a 4age as well... just doesn't have the sideskirts, swaybars, or rear disc brakes that the gts has

i refuse to believe those POS's are runnin low 16s/high 15s stock. i've driven em before and they can't get out of their own way lol.

not to mention all the ones down here are beat to shit burning more oil than gas with about 19293818 miles on them. yeah they're still runnin (go toyota) but that doesnt make em quick lol.

you probably didn't drive an fx16 or fx16 gts...... seeing that i currently own an ae92 with a smallport 4age, had an 86 mr2 with a 3 rib bigport 4age, and have driven many othe 4ag variation cars and have taken a ride/beaten many newer corolla's, i would assume that the 4age powered ae82 that's only about 100lbs heavier than an ae92 or aw11 would beat you..... don't get mad or anything, they have the same motor as the corolla GTS (up to 1990) and all of the mk1 mr2 n/a's.....
