    Shaving Door & Fender Moldings

Can someone please help me out with this?
One of my moldings fell off while i was installing my custom seat covers, seems like it got caught-up in something and just fell off a few days later. I see its some kind of chaulk or black silicone it uses to hold the moldings in place..

I dicided i just want to take them all off but the black silicone/chaulk thing it way to strong. whats the best way i can take them off? also are there like little rivet holes under there that i would need to cover up?

i dont want to mess up my paint taking them off, has someone else shaved their doors/fenders? what are some of the results and problems you've gotten into opening your doors w/o the moldings and whatnot?

if you are referring to the thing on the outside of the door, I think that some people have taken them off by using waxed dental floss, then using the 3m car adhesive remover, then, since the paint under there was never seen by the sun, give the car a thorough wax and buff job. IMO

You should just be able to rip them off with your hands, if not try fishing line or dental floss. I had my moldings fiberglassed and are now totally gone, check out my cardomain if you want to see it. I havn't had any problems...yet.

Oh and if you have a 93-97 there will be holes when you take them off so don't do it if you're not planning on doing some body work.

I guess I don't know what you're talking about, obviously we have different models. When I took mine off there was just adhesive on there which could be scraped off pretty easily.

heat it up w. a hairdryer then try using fishing line by slipping it under there...the heat makes it a LOT easier!

Thats the easiet way to do it. If you cannt use a hairdryer just leave one side of your car in the sun and then reverse the process for the other side
