Is there a way to hook an iPod to our car? Or do I need like a specific radio for that??

If you have an amp it probably has a "In" jack you could just plug and play... for better sound and quality you could use a sound blaster audigy 2 NX combined with your ipod wich kicksass... gives u 24bit /96khz/5.1 audio

some headunits like some JVCs i've seen bring front audio in wich you could use with a minijack you could use this as well.

Alright, cuz Im thinking on getting an iPod, tired of burning cds and then find a new song and need a whole new cd...., but I needed to know what I needed to do this. Anyways, are these headunits pricey?

When it comes to audio, you get what you pay for. There are cheap HU's that have that option but it'll sound like shit...

i have an old clarion head unit, and i'm not sure if it has the input or whatever in the back, and i also have a clarion 6 cd changer..

i was wondering, is there a better way of connecting my ipod to my car besides my 19.99 radioshack car adapter kit?

i'll be hooking up 2 shortly. on my gf's car, i'll be installing a fm modulator(DONT NOT BUY A WIRELESS ONE) and on mine, its a bit easier. my kenwood has no audio IN, but there is a convertor for the cd changer input to rca. i bought a clarion fm modulator for around $45 for the gf, and my adapter for my kenwood was about $20. you can find cheaper fm modulators made by pyle and such as well

also - check out the Apple site for cables, etc that they recommend for the iPod...i think Belkin makes a good cable for it, if your headunit allows it.

thatll work just fine, so long as you have that cd changer control in the back of your stereo. basically the same thing i bought for my kenwood

apple sells a radio transmitter or something where u have to set ur radio to channel 89.3 or something like that

there are different ways you can connect that to your radio. They sell wireless connections using fm frequencies to transfer the songs from your ipod to the radio. they alos have wired one. If your deck comes with aux, you can use a mini jack to rca adaptor to plug it in that way. Also there is an alpine adaptor you can get if you have an alpine deck.

old ipods suck, when the battery dies you have to send it to appl eto replace it and it costs like 100+ bucks. infact all ipods suck they are very expensive. even though i hate dell i would say go with the dell one or rivera ones

And I don't see any $100 for replacement. Just because you can't afford an iPod, it does not mean it sucks, but come on, I know that $250 is not a lot of money to get together for an iPod.

I used to connect mine into my clarion stereo via an aux RCA input that it came built in. In my gf's car she has an aiwa radio that comes with a built in aux 1/8 jack in the front of the faceplate and it sounds very decent. No static at all. Wireless FM modulators do suck. Wired ones are the best next thing if that is the only option you have. The cassette adapters are not bad either.

he probably heard the sound clip of someone calling apple who DIDN'T have the applecare protection plan and was denied service because he didn't want to pay for the call.

guess what people. if you're out of the service contract, you're going to pay for everything. if you're WITHIN the service contract, you don't. plain and simple. don't blame the manufacturer for your misfortune.

i still get pissed off when i hear that thing...because it was my friend Ryan on the sound clip...and it took place while i worked for apple. they don't make shitty products, and they don't INTENTIONALLY screw people out of service.




ok, i'm going to stop ranting. just please, for your own sake(JUST IN CASE something happens), get the Applecare Plan if you buy any apple products...it makes it a lot easier on both you and the tech who's trying to help you if you have a problem. i can't tell you how many people i had on the phone who figured they'd be able to troubleshoot their own problems, and couldn't understand why we couldn't give them free service for even the slightest problems.

ok let me re-write it then. Ipods suck, they are also very expensive. i have a ipod and its not complete garbage but my friend has the dell one and its the same thing and cheaper. i feel sorry for the person who bought me the ipod because they droped a extra 200 dollars for the same thing as the dell one. one i have had a feew problems with my ipod sense i got it, i might just have bad luck.

Well the purpose of having an ipod is to get rid of clunky CD's and what not. I would rather carry an ipod with 2500 songs that have to carry 4 CD's with the same amount of MP3's.

I think there will always be two school of thoughts, the one that thinks devices like the ipod are the greatest, and people that think there is nothing that can beat a CD.

Myself I belong to the latter school!

Anyway, this is going to be my next radio, the Clarion VRX755VD. It wil have fully integrated iPod support which means you will be able to access all of your iPod's content through their screen. IMHO way better than Alpine's implementation.

radio transmitters do suck. Go buy a digital one by belkin at walmart for $20 and see how much it sucks. problem is in urban areas there's so many stations so close together it's impossible (even at lower frequencies) to not get drowned out, and your audio ends up sounding like a fuzzy station going in and out as you drive. It's ok if you have a stock radio and don't plan on keeping the car and just want something to listen to (sorta cool to bring along if you're in a moving truck or in a rental car while on vacation too), but other than that it is the suck. My old crappy AIWA mp3 deck (CDC-mp3) I believe had mp3 input (in other words hook the player up with a 1/8 cable on the front, and it'll read the tags and everything). Look around crutchfield for a head unit that support mp3 input, preferrably in the rear. Then you can mount a jack down low somewhere, or even better make a custom cradle where the mp3 player slides right into a jack to hook up. My personal opinion, skip the ipod and just burn CD's of your music, or find a head unit that supports memory cards and just get an mp3 player that supports the same memory cards.

iPods have been proven to be overpriced, problematic, and lack features that most of their competitors offer. But they're cool and I own two: a 20GB 4th Gen B&amp;W and a 30GB 4th Gen Photo. What can I say?

see...i disagree about them being problematic, but then again i have more than half a brain, and know how NOT to use them. people assume they can just throw them around...yet they won't throw around a hard drive. since anything before the flash drive iPod IS a hard drive, common sense would lead a person to treat it as such. unfortunately, common sense is hard to find as of late.

and before i'm discredited, i speak from the experience of a first level phone tech trained/employed by apple. 99% of the calls we had were USER ERROR, rather than hardware issues.
