    Warning Riaa

Hey everyone heads up. ANYONE on college campuses using i2hub is in danger of getting a court summons. The RIAA has managed to gain access to the i2 network and is handing out summons as fast as possible. I personally know people who are already in deep shit. Watch yourselves if you use it, espically if you are a big time sharer.

Yeah, I've seen em, I work for the Residential Networking group at our University and we've gotten tons of Subpoena warnings. Over 8000 students across the 206 school wide Internet-2 network got them.

the i2 network connects the 206 schools. Its a great tool for educational stuff, or downloading from people u know have fast connections. i2hub is a program that allows you to do this, which is only avaliable from a college network that has access to the i2 network (ie one of the 206 schools). The RIAA used to not be able to access the i2 network at all, so no one could get caught. The recently have broken through and now have access to fuck people over. My friend two doors down from me could face $15000 OR MORE for downloading stuff. The more people that can be saved from a similar fate the better. Ive passed this along to most of my friends here and I figured id post it here just incase one of you uses i2hub.

P.S. Some schools are fighting this, MIT basically responded "NO FUCKING WAY" to the RIAA when they asked for the names matching the IP's they traced.

when I was on a college campus I know people used some hacked iTunes software and shared everything over the local network. so, you had your choice of about 10000 songs and nothing was ever sent over the internet. Seems like a good system to me. Unless the RIAA feels like buyin their way into every school network.

Thats what the RIAA was sweeping into a few years ago on college campuses....those downloading, then putting them on the ethernet network within the school. In 2002, Penn State got hit pretty hard by the RIAA.
