    Installed Headers But Have ???

I installed my headers today (with the help of a friend) on my 2003 Corolla S using the DIY on this website. I bought these headers on Ebay. Everything was going really good until I got to unscrewing the headers from the block. It turns out that we need a 12mm 12 point to unscrew them. I didn't know this so it prolonged the process a few hours while I went to go buy the 12mm nut that I needed and the special tool need to remove one of the bolts which became stripped. Please keep in mind that I have nearly no auto mechanical skills so please do not laugh at me. Anyways, I have a few questions:

    1) There is no way to place the bottom or top heat shield back on, will this be a problem?

    2) Am i supposed to put gasket sealant on the gasket?

I've never installed a 03+ header but I'm pretty sure you will be okay without the heat shield. And no you don't need gasket sealant on the gasket.

lol, anyway, heatshield will NOT fit on no matter how hard to you try to make it- so you just have to deal without it-at least its in the back on your engine, so its not like its heating up the radiator and alternator and stuff...but i commend you on having balls of steel on trying to do this task...header installation is one of the most difficult of bolt ons IMO...
