Energy Supension Bushings?

Some time ago, on the old VVTi forum, I read about someone that had done an Energy eruthane supension bushing upgrade. The guy said that he actually removed all his bushings and measured them. Their length and inner/outer diameters and ordered all the pieces seperate(of course Energy has complete kits available for Hondas/Supra/MR2 NOT Corollas). Here's the question, if someone here has done this will you email me the list of the measurements?? Has anyone else changed their MOTOR mount and TRANNY bushings as well? I'm going to ask my wife to get the bushings for my Christmas gift. Ya she's cool like that.

Energy makes a kit for the Matrix. It's the same as the 03-05 Corolla. Change them...you'll be amazed.

What about a/an 02 rolla

yeah, www.suspension.com has them under matrix... they run about $25

Thanks for the reply, but wouldn't ya know that energy would make a kit for a damn station wagon and not the older 98-02 style corollas. The lack of these easily obtainable goodies is the very reason why this site exists. Again thanks for the imput; however do you happen to know someone else who's done the older model.

Anyone ever find any motor/trans mount bushings for the 98-02? The motor mounts on my 2000 prizm are junk. They go out every two years.

Is an engine hoist required to replace those bushings?

Motor mounts - no. Just a simple floor jack is plenty. The front one, you don't even need that, really. The rear one is kind of a pain, but a jack to raise and lower the engine/transmission is fine. The actual weight of the engine and transmission are supported by the ones that bolt to the sides of the engine bay. One at the front of the engine, and one at the rear of the transmission - those bear the weight. The front and rear mounts don't really support weight, they just keep the engine from moving in the engine bay when rotating.

I just bought a set of lightly used motor mounts for my '00 Prizm which I'm sure you know is the same as 98-02 rolla. I'm very interested in urethane. Would anyone give me a hand knowing where to measure to get all the measurements I'd need to do urethane? I'd be willing to send the three mounts to someone if that's easier.

or just go to toyota and take measurements of some new mounts from the parts dept. or ask if the matrix and corolla havr same part # for the mounts.

People - if you want urethane mounts, just buy some Windo-weld from any auto parts store (well, most carry the stuff). If you just take the stuff, fill in the holes in the mount and let it dry, you will have solid urethane mounts - better than inserts, really because inserts do give some under load - filling the existing mounts in with the Windo-weld will be solid, permanent and won't shift under load. I did this to my front one - it's fairly easy to do.

I'm considering the WindowWeld option, but I'd like to hit all motor mounts I can at the same time. Can anyone tell me or better yet give me any pics of where all the motor mounts are on 98-02. Also, do our cars have trans mounts, and if so where are they? I'm sick of my motor breaking the exhaust once a year, and before I install a new exhaust, I want the stiffen up the motor slopping around. Thanks guys.

The engine movement is breaking your exhaust? Do you have a solid pipe all the way back from the header?

No, It's not actually breaking, but the torque on the exhaust when the engine moves open a gap where the manifold gask seals at the downpipe, and it sounds like a tank. I had a new gasket put in a year ago, and it fixed it, but the motor is moving way to much and it wore out that same gasket again. Also, whenever it develops this massive leak and you hit alot of slush and puddles, the O2 sensor gets toasted.

did anybody try to window weld their motor mounts yet?
I'll be the test monkey if nobody else tried this yet.

Dude - the front mount is SO easy to get out. The rear mount is a real pain to get to. I pulled the front one out and filled it in. I put the ES inserts into the rear mount. I never actually had the rear mount ALL the way out of the engine bay. I just loosened it and pulled up enough to slip the inserts in. I don't know what it would take to actually remove it completely from the engine bay.

I installed some er inserts in my dads matrix, boy did it make a huge difference.

I got the bushing kit from Energy suspension. As a matter fact I have a second one with me. If you guys are interested let me know, I am sure that I can get them to make a couple of complete kits. Tell you this much... they are the best thing ever...

The only thing that did not work out for me was the motor mount inserts. I till have wheel hope and the engine moves to much, the rest of the kit will let you take corners like nobody's biss.
