need help changing headlight bulbs

the thing is, i'm not sure which planet my manual is on now haha..i lost it hella long time ago..would somebody be kind enough to scan theirs?

oh yea, do i need that black rubber tube thing?

remove the battery. its what the directions say in the little thing called a manual

even w/o the manual isn't it obvious that u can remove da battery to do it... basic common sense... LMAO...

i just bought some sylvania silverstars

changing passenger side was no problem
i have stock battery, and it gets in the way of my driver side headlight..i can't get enough room to stick my hand in there and do what i need to do..

anyone got any tips? other than removing battery?

this is on a 98 rolla..oh yea, the silverstars on the passenger side ROCKS! =D it's like my car finally opened up it's eyes

yeah man just common sense. use your brain a little. its just light bulbs.

yea, on my 95 i had to remove my battery to put in my high and low beam bulbs....only pain in the ass this is it resets ur clock and ur stored radio stations in the headunit...

just remove the bulb. i didn't have to take my battery out...what you people smoking, anyway?

I've done it so many times now I got it down.
Your gonna have to work with two fingers and wiggle some things loose.

Yeah, I had the same issue, what a huge pain in the ass. I found it easiest (although not 100% necessary) to remove the battery. I also lost one of the 3 screws holding my headlight clip on. Huge pain for such a simple mod.

on the 98-00 corolla you don't have to take the battery out. do you see the factory intake tube sticking out in front of the battery? it is being held by a plastic screw attached to the metal frame. pry it out using a flat head screw driver, once done, there are two tabs on each side of the top tube, if you pull hard enough, it will pull out giving you complete access on the headlight housing. It should be in your manual if you read it.

no it just leads to your pos intake airbox (which is pointless dead weight) if u ask me, I'd take the tube out and the damn airbox(the airbox is a lil more work than the tube), but then when u get a short ram or cai intake then u just have to remove the intake itself (which is only 3 bolts i think under the air filter)...but yeah I've removed the driver side (when I had h4s) a million times w/out battery removal

no he was talking about the rubber housing of the headlight I think. yes you need it to protect your light from getting water inside it.

u could remove the headlight instead of removing the batt.. lol. it's just a pain in the ass to reset the clock AND all my presets on the radio if i ever unplug the batt.

But on my 96 all i had to do were remove that so called scoop for the intake and reach my hand behind there.

Hey well i need to replace the whole front front passenger side of my car; got any easy tips for that. lol i have to straighten my core support, need a new headlight, corner light, bumper, fender, and hood. Any one located in Washington with some parts they wanna toss? Oh yeah and my step mom just put her 2003 corolla in a ditch. snapped the axle and bent in the doors a little bit. Sorry for the thread jacking. but you can just get behind the light with two fingers and pull out the light bulb. easiest way to do it. - peace.

Just get a bulb and build the corolla around it. j/k I am sticking with my original comment "it's just a huge pain in the ass". What I SHOULD have done is have the shop do it for me. My car got wrecked about a week after I got it, whole front end was rebuilt from bumper to the cabin. I don't know why I didn't just give them my bulbs and have them install those instead of the stock ones.

no u don't, u need to remove the corner light and remove the to 2 nuts holding in the headlamp and also remove the grill...

no you don't, u just need to remove the corner lamp and then the 2 nuts holding on the headlamp and the grill...sorry for the double post, internet turned kinda wacky...

Changing headlight bulbs on a 2000 Corolla

you are all making this alot more complicated than it needs to be. just squeez your hand in there and do it. its not that hard. ive done it multiple times. if your hands are to fat, go out and find some skinny as hell kid like me to do it

cause there was no clearence.....even with the pipe out of the way my hand couldnt get in there and there was a rubber boot on the lamp that made it really hard to pull the light plug out. I didnt want to break anything so i just removed it.....allowed me to clean it up a little though

I just did this on my 98 tonight and had to remove the battery...on the passenger side i pulled the fuse box out of the way. Now I just need to align them because they are way off......any tips?

why the hell did you need to remove the battery?

soooooooooo that's when you find someone with smaller hands, and ask them to do it. there really is no reason you should have to remove the battery to get to the headlight.

just installed them today in my 96...passanger side: 2 seconds, drivers side: about a minute. had to remove the stock intake pipe

i am not a small person...my hands are quite big, yet i had no problem installing them in my 96

uh...if you had no problem, you wouldn't have needed to remove the intake pipe.

a problem WOULD have been me not being able to remove the intake pipe, thus causing me to remove either the battery or headlight assembly. or my bulbs not working out the way i planned, or not fitting in correctly. my hand getting stuck while installing the damn thing or getting shocked.....u get the idea.

anyhow, a problem would result in me kicking my bumper or in such manner, but since that didn't happen, i konw i didnt run into ANY problems.
