    Full throttle Shift

    Definition:

Keep the throttle pinned to the floor with a quick press down and release of the clutch in order to shift to the next gear

Is it really hard on the clutch?? I just heard about it, but not sure what are the drastic effects?? Personally, I think just for the sake of getting a better launch, not losing much revs and reduce shift time, the clutch will get taxed very badly and would never do it. Any ideas??

yes. it is very bad for your clutch, despite what the ricer down the street will try and convince you of. it's also bad for the synchros. all in all, it's a great way to bring your MT to an untimely early death :)

Cool guys. Just what I thought. I knew it would be the best way to bill yourself for a new clutch. I read posting from this dude on the net with a TSX who raced an Integra GS-R (Pity the GS-R owner's driving skills) and beat him using this technique. According to him, the shifts are so smooth that it feels like an automatic. That guy has to be on crack.

You can do something my dad taught me called speed shifting. It is where u still are giving you engine a little gas and u shift gears. takes practice but it does work.

Yeah, Mike that is exactly what I do. When I release the clutch, I gently tap the gas pedal and the shifts seem smooth without an free revving and the car does not deccelerate between shifts

if you are pushing in the clutch at all, the car is deccelerating, it might not be much, but it is, trust me

Yeah, it does for sure, but not as much. I would still use the full range of motion to do shifts and keep the parts in great shape rather than taxing the clutch and the tranny just for kicks ;)
