Define RICE

Before you all start to flame me, I know the general meaning for it is. It's used ALOT on this forum as well as everywhere else and I just wanted to know what it means to you, the wonderful members of this toyota corolla community...

Me personally, I try not to use it because I'm sure for every car that I refer to as rice there are about 17 more that refer to mine as the same. I usually stick to shaking my head and saying "To each his own." I can't bring myself to down somebody elses car that isn't nice in my eyes. Not saying I don't recognize ugly cars but I try not to patronize by using the word "rice."

it's the attitude. one of two things makes a person a ricer:

    1. altezzas, stickers, body kit, etc. = /\/\4d tYt3 $p33d j00. 'nuff said.

    2. person who thinks their car is unbeatable. this can go both ways (domestic or foreign). if somebody in an NSX or something drives up and claims they can't be beaten, they're a ricer. same with domestics. i was watching a show last night and saw a mechanic claim that a car he helped build was unbeatable by any import. ricer.

    I don't use it...
Some people grow up, some don't. When you've grown as a person you tend to choose your words more wisely, and think before you speak.

to me its all about the attitude thinking your car is the shit when its not. also, stupid worthless mods and tons of chessy mods make for a ricer too. so basically you can be a ricer person or have a ricer car i guess lol.

    according to urbandictionary.com
    5. rice

To excessively modify and augment the physical appearance of sub compact economy vehicles in an attempt to make it them fast. Examples include unsightly body kits, oversised mufflers, (which are actually detremental to performance) neon lighting, thousands of decals, and of course, twenty inch rims which are far too heavy for these vehicles to handle.

Jimmy G thought he was "dopey-fresh" in his riced out Honda. That was, until my Bronco used it as a ramp.

how many "what does rice mean to you" threads are we going to have???

not flaming, but man we've covered this several times lol. I agree with what someone else said... i dont think all-show, no-go cars are necessarily rice... but they may be. It's about how tastefully the modifications are made and the attitude of the driver. It is certainly not limited to imports, or young people, or even just car owners. I've met several riced-out domestic truck owners in their 40s.

there is no definition.... its become a generic and grossly overused term for people who seem to lack imagination or drive to make any educated observations or comments.

i agree... what the hell is a ricer? bottomline is, no matter what mods you do with your car, not everyone is happy... i like modding or fabricating parts of my ride for my consumption... whether they like it or not, i'm cool with that...

and yes, we asians love rice... red rice/ java rice... you name it... now, i'm missing the ponderosa in guam, steak with java rice... hmmmm....

agreed, the word "rice" is overused. Basically if you see something you hate, just let it be, who really gives a fuck what other peoples car looks like, to each's own taste. Your a ricer for calling someone else a ricer =D

Well I don't know about you guys but in the military community the term "rice" or "ricer" is used alot in a racist sense. Especially in the Marine Corps where the majority loves mustangs, big trucks, and hooters chicks. I myself have been refered to before as trying to impersonate a "riceboy" for being a black Sgt. having an Asian wife and driving a corolla when most of my peers were driving trucks or some type of huge japanese sedan. I think it is just another term that has over time evolved into a definition or explanation used to label the import community by people that either don't understand it watch movies f&f and assume that is what we are all like and grow to dislike it.

    ricers = posers

if you think your car is better than it really is youre a ricer. people that stick ugly body kits and wings on their cars, etc. other mods that either useless, stupid, ugly, or all of the above. anyone who looks at my "mad tight modded corolla yo" and is offended.

EDIT: yes ugly is rice since it is usually an attempt to be "cool" and get attention. i dont understand how these kids with horrendous body kits and wings and lights on their civics, corollas, mx-3s, etc. can think they are cool...?

i think we all know scion is the ricer brand (or teenagers as they say) from our beloved toyota. they are geniuses. they must be making so much money off stupid spoiled kids and their parents.
