So you like spending money on mods that the car shoulda had to start with? That's just the way I feel about it. If a car already has good performance I wouldn't consider that a bad thing.

It's not a bad thing at all to have a car with good performance from the factory. I think what he means is that knowing he couldn't get much more out of the car without serious $$ is frustrating, regardless of the stock power output. No matter how much hp you have, more is always better.

215rwhp sounds fairly close to 240 crank, no? Intake/exhaust isn't going to make a world of difference, imho..

I see weights varying from 1667lb to 1984lb (US version).

What do you mean schooling the Elise?? Are you taking about teaching them about the motor?

Isn't is a 2 cyl, twin rotor? That what the rx7's were. They had 2 cylinders and 2 rotors I think.

no cylinders...... no valves, no cams.....

basically a crank with a rotor on each...... 3 apex seals per rotor...... trailing and leading spark plugs......

    The e30 M3 was a 195hp 2.3l I4, so the S2000 still has it beat in hp/liter.

S2000's are sweet cars. I fell in love with them after driving my friends S2K. For those that think the HP is overrated, you might've forgot something. RWD cars tend to have more powertrain loss than FWD cars. So that might explain the low HP to the wheels.

Some Toyota cars I would like to point out:
    Celica TRD Sports M (200PS @ 7600RPM 2ZZ-GE)
    TRD Altezza (270PS @ 8600RPM 3S-GE)

    Nissan also has the SR20VE (190PS @ 7000RPM)

    Read on: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm

This is the heart of a rotory motor:

And this is how it works:

that isn't an rx7 engine.... the rotor is too big and too thin walled..... that's probably a shot of one of the more rare much smaller rotary motors (there are a few of them floating around in the VRI at my university, but i've never seen the inside of those)

Yeah, and both cars would beat a WRX, but the S2000 would smoke it!

Ok, so modding a Corolla is giving you a lot of power over stock? It takes serious money to get any gains out of the 1 or 2zz. Personaly 5K and 320 at the wheels sounds a lot better than 3K and 135 if your lucky. Plus once you upgrade the suspension, brakes, etc your talking some serious money. At least the chassis and suspension are up to the task on an S2000!
