    Camry Engines

I know the tC has a 2.3 camry engine, but it's built on an 'f' block and not a 'g' block. Does anyone know of a camry engine that was built on a 'g' block?

block refers to the short block, head refers to the long block.

The camry engine does have the f head, if you notice, hp and tq rating are identical

    The 2AZ-FE is a 2.4L with a "F" economy head. As far as I know, Toyota hasn't built a 2AZ-GE.

A is new? As in the "A" series block???

The AZ series is new - RAV4 (1AZ-FE) and Camry and RAV4 and tC (2AZ-FE)
The NZ series (Echo) and ZZ series (what model car did the ZZ series come in again??)

The only new Toyota to have G heads is the Celica. Several Lexus models got G heads. The IS300, SC300 and GS300 (2JZ-GE 3.0L I6). The IS200 got the 1JZ-GE 2.0L I6. Most other Lexus vehicles presently have the F heads. I think the UZ series is the predominating engine family Toyota uses. The 1UZ-FE is the 4.0L V8 in the GS, LS, RX and SC400, but those have been replaced by the 3UZ-FE 4.3L V8 in in the now GS, LS, and SC430. The 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 is in the Tundra and RX470.

Tru dat! The S series truly was a bullet-proof design. My 1990 Camry with the 3S-FE had 326,000 miles on it when I traded it in on my '03 CE. It was quite gutless, but even with that many miles, I never worried about taking an 8hr (on-way) trip to NJ, which I did several times, with all those miles of abuse (and I do mean ABUSE!!). Great engine. Of course, there aren't too many engines Toyota makes that weren't great - actually none I can think of. Perhaps the 7M-GE and GTE engines and the 22R-E with their head gasket problems.

Once again, A, S, and JZ are OLD series!
1JZ and 2JZ are both JZ series engine.
    3S is S serise engine.

    Car with ZZ engine
    98-05 Corolla
    Matrix
    00+ Celica
    00+ MRS
And only Celica GTS, Matrix XRS and Corolla XRS come with GE.

Have you guys heard of the new Echo XRS Toyota is coming out with? Supposedly a real beast from what I hear. It's going to have the 1.5L 1NZ block.....with turbo and supercharger both. 1NZ-GTZE. Can you fathom it? I've heard rumors of 250hp @ 6000rpm, 265ft-lb @ 4000rpm and an 8300rpm redline. The drivetrain is supposedly gonna be an AWD setup with either 6-spd manual or 5-spd auto offered. 4-wheel disc brakes, 17x7.5 wheels, factory performance suspension (lowered with stiffer shocks). Est. 0-60 @ 5.0 sec and 12 sec 1/4 mile.

    Believe it or not!

I just re-read rainbow_star's post about their being no new series engine. I missed the "no new series engine" part which indeed makes his post correct. Although I don't care, the S series ownz the AZ series. Carry on!

Well of course. Reliability is all in the tuning. How do you think there are twin, triple, and even quad-turbo cars out there?? Street legal? Gotta have faith.

And if it were turbocharged, it would be a 1NZ-GTE...

It's also going to have a vertical door...you know...Lamborghini style.

If it's going to have &quot;G&quot;, will it have VVTL-i? If it has VVTL-i, isn't it better to have supercharger rahter than turbo?<br />
    So I think either 1NZ-GZE or 1NZ-FTE is possible, but no 1NZ-GTE. <img src="http://vvti.net/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Stick Out Tongue" />

Well, I'd only assume that with either super OR turbocharger, that Toyota would use G heads. They are simply the wide angle valvers that improve flow rate. VVT-i or VVTL-i can be on an F head OR G head just as a turbo or supercharger could be. So, I fergot to mention that it'll have VVTL-i. So, yeah...1NZ-GTZE.

I hope you all aren't taking me seriously about any of this ;)
