Is Honda going family??? ( like Toyota, I guess)

honda is followin toyota in some ways but definitely not where toyota is going ritenow... toyota got 1 supercar coming out w/ one more probably gonna debut in Toyko Auto Show as the next supra, x-runner, the xrs line-up, diesel powered tundra coming out, plus Lexus going seperate ways... honda definite not going the way toyota is going...

Yeah, I hope Toyota makes cars that go head to head with Infinit G35, 350Z etc. and at the same time they are not too expensive.

I'm hoping toyota would get back into the game as much as you guys but honestly I'm not goina give my hopes up like i did before time and time again. Just two years ago I read on car and driver that Toyota is planning on bringing back the supra - possibly under the lexus name with a V8 single turbo powerplant (instead of the complicated sequential TT to keep it affordable). But just a few months back I hear they were discontinueing the celica and MR2 to be replaced by the scion lineup (another one of toyota's marketing schemes).

But back on topic, I really hate it when a car company care about nothing more then marketing and profits. I guess I can't blame toyota because the net profit of every new car produced is about 11%(if i can remember correctly) and not appealing to the right group - like Mitsu and Nissan would put them brink of bankruptcy - I say Honda did a pretty good job in keeping a balance; with their civic sedan, accord and suv lineup for the middle income, middle aged group; civic SI, RSX for the kids; TSX, TL Type S for the Luxury/Performance crowd, and keeping around the NSX as their flagship supercar to show off their automotive engineering/design knowledge.. SO i'm not sure where's that article is coming from

If you read car magazine UK, on page 11 they have reported that Honda is planning on dropping their high performance cars such as, NSX, S2000 and Integra Type R. According to the magazine, Honda wants to concentrate on cars that have a broader market and a broader appeal among people of all ages and that because of the very small market of these models, Honda has planned to drop these sports cars from their line up. I guess, whatever Toyota does today, rest of them do tommorow.

Car magazines dont kno shit...all they do is talk outa their ass. Honda will not go family simply because racing is a big part of their company. Alot of the small cars today are race technology inspired. Honda's the real deal in F1 and i would expect some of the success and technology to be transfered to their sporty cars. Believe shit wen u see it...when it comes to cars.

Maybe in the UK. But to my knowledge Honda isn't planning on droping any car.

I'm guessing the CTR is there to compensate for it.

i think its bs.. i mean i can see that they want to go that way with the sucess of the oddessy which to me is just stupid.. 17 cupholders i heard someplace.. i guess minivans and compact cars are the "trend" and they want to appeal to certain age demographics.. all they care about is da money.. so i really dont think they will get rid of the high priced cars.. also like someone mentioned honduh is heavy into racing so it will kill them to stop it

I was thinking about it somemore. The S2000 is a car that doesn't sit on show room floors. Our dealership never had one because people would buy them almost the minute that they came off the truck.

the UK doens't even have the integra (RSX)

far as i know toyota is dropping the celica and mr2 in the US and not haveing any sports cars due to the new Scion line.

yeah, the Tc is suppose to be the replacement for Celica in the lineup... and the MR2 Spyder wasn't a good seller, so no surprise there that it is being discontinued.
