    i got a brake job

so, i was having trouble after i did my brakes. on my 97 rolla, i put on new front and rear pads and new rotors. i bled the system twice, but i was still having the same problem. when i would press the pedal, it would only stop the car when it would go haveway to the floor. my non-abs equipped car wouldn't even lock up the wheels anymore under extreme braking, which was tested by a stupid deer.

so, i took it to the brake shop. they resurfaced my bell shaped rear drums and told me to drive it. it was exactly the same. so i told them they needed to do something else. so they replaced the master cylinder. now, it's awesome. the best part is that the total job cost $100 cash, not bad at all. i'm so happy now!

good deal! yeah, if the master cylinder loses its pressure, you'll have serious braking problems- as well as the brake booster (big round black thing on firewall) if that went out on you as well...

Yeah my 1st car (86 Pontiac fiero POS) had a failing master cylinder and the car wouldnt even start to slow down till the pedal was almost to the floor. Made stopping in the rain quite an adventure...

My friend is having similar problems.. Her brakes are all the way down to the floor before it even attempts to stop. I checked her brakes and it looked fine. I bled her brakes last night and it was still the same thing. You think it's also my master brake cylinder? if so where can i get one for cheap? Can I ask where you got it done for $100? because I looked up the parts and some place online was selling it for $130. Thanks

i got it done at a brake shop a few miles away from my house. its called "the brake shop". i think they gave me a discount because i talked to the owner and he knew my dad from doing a brake job the week before.
also, i think he realized that i know about my brakes, since i installed all my pads and rotors and bled my system twice.
also, he charged me for the drum resurfacing and they said that should fix it, but it didn't.
i guess i just got lucky. i would do it myself, and put in a master cylinder next time, it's not too tough, i would just not know how to bleed the system after it.

yeah master cylinders arent too tough to put in. i did one on a grand marquis. to bleed a master cylinder you can bench bleed if you have a kit for it or just have a person hold the pedal down and tighten and retighten the fluid lines a few times.
