Also, does anyone know if 5-1/4 speakers will fit into the front doors w/o modification? The speaker brackets on crutchfield are said to be for rear only and their support said the fronts will need custom brackets. TIA

Need help on deciding new headunit

Hello, I need some help deciding on a headunit for a 95. I would something with retail price of $150-350 that plays MP3 CDs. I just need it to power 4x 5 1/4 speakers up front and back to keep things simple. I looked on Crutchfield and comparing many I came up with Kenwood Excelon KDC-X679

Any thoughts? Suggestions? I heard from friends who are into their sound that Alpin is buggy, Sony is mediocre, Kenwood Excelon and new Pioneer units are good for the $. Thanks in advance

i would go for pioneer... i have had two pioneer mp3's already, an mp3 only (DEH-3350) and an mp3-wma w/ OEL (DEH-7550) which i currently have, never had any problems with it. that's about the price range you're looking for...
