And a civic isnt going to fare well at 120 or 140, regardless of removing the governor or not.

Think twice before street racing douchebags

same thing would have happened at the drag strip if someone swerved into you (minus the trees)

Think twice before street racing....Here is why

The guy who is narrating was in a turbo charged Civic Si with his friend driving. Read on.

sorry for the long post... ive spent awhile trying to remember this over the last few days...
kinda hard to remember what happened exactly...

my friend wanted to go to the casino cause he and his gf got into a fight and he was pissed off and wanted to cool down... so we left... it was about midnight

on the way driving there theres a road that follows along side the freeway that we normally take... its miles long and no side streets... a lot of racing goes on there...

we pulled up to the stop sign at the start of the long stretch... there was a car behind us that was messing with us, he kept flashing his high beams and tailgating.. we turned and went on, going fairly slow to let him pass by... but he pulled alongside and revved his engine and started yelling...

my friend started babbling on about his gf and a bad night and this is pissing him off... so he floored it... i started yelling at him to slow down... we hit 140mph in no time... the other car ended up behind us... but it eventually caught up... and it tried to pass but failed and clipped the back end of my friends car... it sent both cars going any direction uncontrollably...

i woke up facing the ground... i tried to move but was in a lot of pain... after struggling a lot i was able to sit up... i looked around and didnt see anything... i wasnt in the car... i had my seatbelt on... i managed to get up... and i walked down the road for a long time... there was debris scattered everywhere... i saw the other car that was messing with us and i walked over to it... it had rolled a bunch of times before stopping against a tree... the driver was in the backseat dead... i threw up

after seeing that, i got out my cell phone... it was 3:30am... we had hit that stretch of the road at 1am... i called 911 and reported it... about 30 minutes later the area was covered in police, ambulance, firetruck...

they took me away... i suffered real bad road rash, a broken leg, a broken arm, and lots of cuts and cruises

the driver of the other car was dead, the front left of that car hit the tree pushing the left front wheel to where the driver used to sit... through the inside of the car... they said he died instantly...

as for my friend... all i can say is that civics dont fair well in crashes at that speed...

they described that the civic went sideways... struck a tree on the driver side door... splitting the car in two... somehow wwhen that happened i got ejected and flew far far away... while the rest of the car went into an ongoing crash with a LOT of trees (because of the extreme speed)...

there was nothing left of the civic... all you could find was bits and pieces of blue parts... bits and pieces of foam from the seats... plastic parts everywhere... metal parts everywhere...

on top of that... my friend was scattered everywhere... he died instantly...

i spent two nights at the hospital before they sent me home with casts...

i know what my friend did was wrong... and you can flame him all you want... i tried to stop him... but even though he was wrong and stupid... he was still a close friend of mine...

not sure if theres a moral to this or not... but i do wanna point out a few things...

for those of you that want to remove the 120mph governor on your civics... you should really consider how well your car will fair in a crash...

im damn lucky to even have survived that with as little injuries as i did...

    -happy driving

at least at a track they have medical personell on duty... and yes, no trees... :) -- however none of that would matter if the impact was too much.

As for modding cars that were never meant to do certain speeds... I don't think there is anything wrong with it... if you do it PROPERLY. Meaning you reinforce the car, etc. Don't half ass it - that can cost you your life.

i am sorry to hear that. my best friend died in a car accident too though it wasnt from racing.

this is why i am a firm believer in not modding car that werent made for it. some cars just should not be going fast.

No cars are really meant to survive a crash at 140mph

I could totally relate to this since it happens all too often when some jerk pushes your buttons. A few months ago, a guy in a red integra kept cutting me off in bumper to bumper traffic very closely while talking on his cell phone. The more irritated I became by honking horn on him, the more he would cut me off.

Well any wreck at those speeds is extremely dangerous. Save it for the track man.

i had a highschool mate who had a souped up mistubishi lancer box type of the early eighties, he would make one-hour drive from home to school and vice versa, to a 15 or 30 minute spree. on that fateful night after dropping his GF home, as he headed for home, he got caught or sandwhiched in an overtaking position between two 12 wheeler trucks, his car ripped in two... friends of mine who took him to the hospital saw him in the rear seat...

it just ain't worth speeding recklesslly at freeways or side streets...
