    2004 Toyota Sportivo

Has anyone heard of this car yet? I think that it is only set to be released in Australia, but is there any chance of it coming to the states at all? I think I have seen the car mentioned in SmokingTiresV6 sig. It looks like Toyota is finally listening to the people and giving them what they want in a car. If they release this as well as the Volta it seems they may start a line of more performance oriented cars. They took the 2.4-litre VVT-i 2AZ-FE engine and turbocharged it for an output of 245hp as well as making it 4WD. I hope they bring this car to the states. If your not to familiar with the cars, more info as well as a few pics can be found at this link:

No the Australian XRS is the European Corolla T Sport. The sportivo label is associated with the Australian version of Camry SE. This car is more like the futuristic supercharged Scion TC. Nevertheless, the article has a very important point that vindicates what I had been saying for a while in response to people who believe Toyota is focusing on younger people by introducing the Scion line up and moving Toyota into a more luxurious segment. The Toyota manager makes it clear over and over again that today's young people are the future prospective customers of Toyota and Toyota will be focusing on young people.

Sorry that its old news to you BLADDER_MASTER, but no one forced you to read the post in the first place. I just thought it would be nice for some people that share the same interest in toyota like myself to be aware of what the company has planned...............

There is no Australian XRS. Unless you're refferring to the Australian Corolla Sportivo, which has been out for a while now (2-3 yrs? dont quote me). Basically Toyota Australia have their basic range, Corolla, Echo, Camry and their models, Ascent, Ascent Sport, Conquest, Levin, (which is the equivalent to the LE, S, etc in the US). Then they added the Sportivo model, with more powerful engine, better shocks, body kit, etc. The "Sportivo" in the article above, is a concept car. It's gonna be a line of cars and not just a model.

I'm with 93RollaRacer... WHY can't THEY call the same thing, the same thing?
BTW, do Corolla's come as a hatch in the US? Coz down here they come as a hatch, sedan and wagon. Although the US sedan looks waaay better.

that thing looks pretty cool, though real, non-CAD-generated pics would be peferrable. However, even if Toyota does decide to produce that car (which I doubt), it'll never be sold here. Since when has Toyota ever sold their best cars in North America? Not now, that's for sure. When the Supra was available here is the only example I can think of.

You asked if anyone has heard about the car and I replied with it being old news to me. No one forced you to read my reply. ;)

The Scion tC guys should be crossing fingers Toyota brings out the 2AZ-GE. But most of them wouldn't know why though. Damn n00bs.
