I spent just about $1000, not so much. Actually if you have rims and lowered, it's very easy to get close to $1000 already.

I wouldn't mind turning my rolla into a RWD or AWD monster powered by a 2jz or 3sgte, respectively... Either of those projects would easily run into the $20,000 range.

my corolla has over $5,000 in work done to it not including the initial purchase (~$4,000 in 2000).... i've had the car for 5 years now (wow!)....

    money includes:
initial tune up, new rotors, pads, drums, shoes, etc
all new suspension (springs, struts, Tein upper strut mounts all around, JDM front swaybar & bracketry, original aftermarket strut brace and the now ae92 gts brace)
    new tires a few times
    rims
money paid into stupid lighting when originally in HS
money paid into the original (and always changing until now) stereo (over $2,000)
    alarm
money spent on the silvia headlights and materials for me to make the hood
the 4age engine swap including a header and new full exhaust with high flow cat
the MSD ignition i have now sold (except the blaster 2 & tach adapter i still have lying around that i'm not using anymore)
on it's 2nd transmission (first one had a grinding syncro that ended up taking out 1st and 2nd gears completely)
    on it's 3rd clutch & pressure plate (2nd flywheel)
    new radiator (with motorswap)
4age on it's 3rd set of wires already (msd ate through the accels i had) and 3rd cap
new timing belt (4age), new serpentine belt (4age), some wiring stuff...

and i'm sure there's a lot i'm missing... but that easily gets over $6,000....

that being said..... i've put close to 80,000 miles on the car just through HS and college and for the most part has been very reliable and a fun/quick car

and also, my mr2 has less than $3,000 including the new 4agze, new tranny, new standalone ecu, including the laptop, eibach springs, kyb struts, all wiring, new clutch master cylinder, gell cell battery and stuff needed for the relocation, new front rotors & pads, and 10" cooling fan added for the intercooler...... so i do know how to build a car for cheap

In the 6 years I had my car I probably spent ~$6 G's in total. That is counting stereo system ~200,0 plus trd kit, and suspension, and three sets of wheels, two sets of tires, CAI, muffler, brakes, etc.

I got half of the money back selling my stereo, and a few other things, and then sold the car for 5,2000. I say it was all well worth it.

I did read carefully....he has put about 3200 into his car....and luckily bought the car for 150 bucks.

What does the 150 dollar amount have to do with anything?

^^^ the title says "after initial purchase"...... so the $150 would be 'exempt' from that

Yeah, I know that, but turbo4age is trying to imply something else.

(Since he himself put his initial purchase)

Come on guys, it really doesn't matter how much a person has spent. So what if a guy spent a little cash on his car and thinks people need to spend more? Whether you are willing to spend more, or don't have the dough to do it, in the end we're all here because we like to drive around in our cars, right? We're all here for the same reason, so what's there to argue about?
