How much bling did you throw into your car (after initial purchase)?

As I was reading the thread about the people here needs to focus more on performance rather than looks, I started wondering, "How much DID we each spend on our own car before today?" Looks, performance, or otherwise, I think money spent on the car is...well, money spent on the car. We just tend to make our ride look good rather than trying to make it go fast, knowing damn well that our 1ZZs, 4AGs, what-have-you have just some (but not a lot) potential at aiming high. And let's face it - you bought a corolla not only because it looked good, but it's economical! I'm sure if we really wanted speed and have the money to throw down at it, we'd get something a little more competitive. But hey, we all have to make dues with what we have. And like someone else said, we don't have a huge selection of parts to choose from anyhow. Even if we do, it usually costs us a pretty penny.

So anyway, back to the topic. How much did you spend on your car? Don't be shy about not spending more than others because you want to eat three full meals a day rather than some of us who just lives off of snacks and ramen so we can get a little something special for the car (though that's nothing to be ashamed of either - love makes you do crazy things :D ).

    I've spent...mm...$2,100 so far.

About $2500 - two sets of wheels, better audio system, upgraded brakes, some electrical work, TRD springs, and aftermarket lighting. Just stuff to make my 3 hour commutes back and forth safer and more enjoyable. Not sure if you call that "bling", other than the sound system, since lot of what I changed are considered consumables.

for the first year i was well under the $500 range.

i'm still WELL under a grand for everything i've done to it...and i don't forsee spending much more, aside from performing maintenance on it.

I may decide to post my mod list one of these days... but I can comfortably say I've probably spent 4x what *most* people have spent on their cars... Some people like to go shopping for clothes and cute electronics for their home, I like to shop for car parts. :)

Well, i'm not sure if it's considered "bling," but shortly after, I had a system installed for around $750. I've spent around $1200-1500 on the car. Nothing real major other than the system...at least for now.

Thats why Im asking customzcorolla up there how hes planning on putting in 20gs in performance.

And 5k is definately doable...body kit, custom work, etc. Peter has way more than that invested....lots have at least that amount.

A local MD guy has a turboed swap, and another has the soft rag top.

come to think of it, when i'm done with the car late this year, i will also go past that 5g range (damn s/c).

it's just so hard to try and do something for your car, without just chucking your wallet out the window.

but 20g's? um...go buy a new car. seriously.

uh-uh. i don't care WHAT you do, unless you want to swap out your engine/tranny/ac/testicles, you'll NEVER reach 20k!

oh, and your rims must be made from 20ct diamonds.

Throwing down 3g's in cash using your OWN hands is NOT a good feeling.
