    that is for an alarm system, there used to be a press-down switch mounted there probably. It is for when you close the hood, it pushes the switch down, and when you open the hood, the switch will go up and siren will go off.

    i don't think it's a pressure switch, maybe...but it looks to me like a piezo siren. i'll check my girlfriends rolla, she's got the same one, just with a working factory alarm system

    ok, i looked under my hood today because i redid my front brakes and i wanted to check the fluid. on the vaccuum hose coming from the engine to the brake booster, there is the thing with a red and black wire on it that sits on top of the line, it is surrounded by foam, it's that red thing. i'm thinking it's the siren for the factory alarm system. i have no way to test that because when i got my car, i didn't get remotes with it and i have never used the alarm system, installed my own. check it out in the pic [IMG]

    it's got wires that go through the firewall. i tried to trace them from the inside, but i can't find where they come through.
