my terrible idea for fun with brakes

ok, last week i did my rear brakes on my 97 rolla, tomorrow i'm going to do my front brakes, pads and rotors. i was thinking, just for a couple a runs, it would be kinda sweet to drive the car with no front rotors. this would make the rear tires lock up when i pressed the brakes. i would only do this around my neighborhood, which is never crowded and do a donut or two in my cul-de-sac. i know it's a terrible idea and it'll probably be really hard to stop, but think about it, this could be used for ghetto "drifting"..don't flame me about this, lol

Well..... that certainly is an idea............. A STUPID IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you said don't flame you, but come on! This is like you said, a terrible idea and not to mention dangerous because you don't know who can come through your neighborhood. Just forget about it and chuckle that idea off.

i wouldnt go more than a roll because you arent going to stop easy. its probably gonna feel like your gliding on ice and you cant stop easy.

also alot of brake systems are designed in a diagonal split. 1 front rotor is paired with the diagonal drum in the back just in case one fails you can still have 1 front rotor for decent stopping power. i dont know if this would effect the rear brakes b/c you could find yourself with no brakes at all.

That is the stupidest idea ever. How the hell can you not expect flaming?! I'll have no pity if you injure yourself doing it, only for those you could injure (neighborhood or not). Please do not add yourself to the gene pool.

No rotors? What about the Calipers? you going to just let them hang with the pads in them or not?

This is what will happen, You'll go down the road and hit the brakes. If you removed the pads from the calipers, the piston will completley shoot out (ruining the piston and seals) and you'll loose all the brake fluid to the front brakes and any fluid in the reservior. The rears will probably not lock in that case. Even with the Diagonal split system, You'll quickly realise how important those front rotors are.

Do yourself a favor by not doing it.

If you really want that effect, go down the road and pull your e-brake really quickly.

ha, i knew i'd get some colorful replies. yeah, i was rethinking it, bad idea, but it would be fun if it worked. if i actually did it, i would leave the front pads in and the calipers in place and just remove the rotors, but i was thinking, i'm not sure if having all that freeplay on the front pads would allow the rears to get any pressure to them. also, about the e-brake, i redid my rear pads, but not the drums yet, and i adjusted the pads correctly, using the little adjuster window in the back and spinning the wheel till it caught, but my e-brake does not lock the rear wheels, hell, it has trouble slowing down the car at slow speeds (under 10mph)...i've adjusted the pads and i've adjusted the ebrake nut to get the most amount out of it that you could get, but still not that much comes out of the e-brake...maybe my cable is stretched or something.
