    Corolla hatch

Why do we not have any Corolla's in hatchback form here in the U.S. ?? I love them, and like them much better than the sedan. Anyone know why?

There was a Corolla hatchback for a few years (late 80's) called the Corolla FX16. There was even a GTS version with a 4AGE engine.

And no, it was not the AE86.

Matrix is the nicest looking hatchback on the road but, I hate the minivanish characteristics of hatchbacks and no matter how many sporty features are tacked onto the hatchbacks, they still give the minivanish look. Sedans only for me.

Hatchbacks/Wagons still exist in Corollas if you look closely. Ever heard of a car called Toyota Matrix??

I meant the newer Rollas. I know about the FX-16. I just like the more rounded hatches better than the block hatches, except for the CRX.

Take a Matrix and put it next to the Corolla hatchback available in Japan. One is much more attractive.

As far as the four door economy cars sell comment... I know, look at the Focus.

It is purely subjective. Depends on your taste. Personally, the JDM Corolla hatchback RunnX (known as Corolla T Sport in Europe) looks bland and boring when compared to the Matrix XRS with 17 inch rims and body kit.

True, because I'd never throw 17's on a car or a bodykit on a hatch that looked like that. Just 15's and a nice drop.

The Matrix is a 5 door... I'm talking about a 3 door hatchback, you know, like the SiR (or Si in the USA)... im well aware that the Matrix i based on the Corolla, and its a big hatchback/wagonesque Corolla... but I want a small 2 door hatchback...

The SiR is being discontinued, i know, and the reason it has bad sales is because of the price/performance ratio, Toyota would have to offer the 3 door hatch witht he regular engien too at a regular price...
