    power windows mod..possible?

ok...i'm kinda getting sick of having to use my key everytime i want to roll down my power windows a little...here goes the senario: i would like to keep my keys in a central place so i don't lose them, so i would unlock the car remotely, go outside and roll down the windows a little, like when it's way hot outside, but i don't want them all the way down. i would like to do this without the use a key. this also would come in handy when i go to the drivein resturaunt, you know, the one they they bring the food out to you and put it on your window. i have tried hooking up a power window rolldown module to with my alarm and i didn't like the results of it. i just wish i could roll down the windows at any time, with or without a key. the only reason i can see them engineering it to require a key is security reasons (window cracked open, would allow someone to roll it down with a long stick)...but i could always combat that by setting a switch.
anyone ever try this? on a 97 rolla?

thanks for the reply, but i'm more than happy with my current twoway remote start system. tomorrow i'm going to splice into the wires and test which ones turn on with the key, that will help me out

Get a remote start with a few open auxillary commands and use them to control your power windows. Forget rolling them down a little, if you have a remote start you just leave your A/C on when you turn your car off. Then 15 mins before you leave just remote start the car, and by the time you get in it will be cool.

Never tired it... Just get a 2 way remote start with keyless entry, temperature sensor inside (since your concerned with temp), a nd some auxilary functions so you can use them for power windows or a trunk popper solenoid. The 2 way remote will show you the temperature inside your car...

    Good luck...

just run a "always on" power supply from somwhere to ur window crank... there are some features in the car that only turn on when key is un aux. mode, but there are some live wires runnin thruout the car, find them and hook it up

by the way, i did it. there are 2 black wires in the center top of the wiring harness on the drivers controls. both of those turn to 12 volts when the key is in the on position. i checked to make sure they don't turn to grounds or something when the key is off or the windows are in use, jus so i don't mess anything up. so i ran a 12volt constant, fused of coarse to those wires and everything is awesome now. coolest part is that it works on all the windows now. nice little mod in my opinion.
