I just got off the phone with one of my suppliers and they confirm that VIS has finally completed work on its 2003 Corolla, OEM-style CF hood. While there are a number of companies now producing a CF hood for the current-gen., VIS Racing certainly has an excellent track record for quality when it comes to pouring the resin and laying the carbon fiber. (Adequate packaging to protect the hood while shipping is an area that DOES need improvement though). Anyway, it should now be available for ordering. Here's the page with info/part#:

how much do they cost?

I got a deal on it, but assuming the full retail price, you're probably expecting somewhere around $400 USD + any applicable sales and shipping costs.

The hood has shipped. I'll be getting it in Wednesday (10/27/04) of next week. Gonna get some good pictures before it gets painted and mounted on my wrecked car. I especially want pictures of the underside. I've seen some really disgusting undersides of some cheap hoods that look like a kid put it together with play-doh. But I went with VIS because I heard from multiple sources that no one lays the resin for the CF hoods like VIS. Plus it's rolled edges, not cut.

I ordered it from Southern California, and shipping from there to Northern California was about $93 via FedEx Ground. I saw someone selling the VIS Racing CF hoods on eBay for $300, but then he rapes you on shipping charges ($150). If anyone's interested in getting the hood (actually, you should be prepared to put out around $400-$450 if you need it shipped), just let me know.

Hood was delivered directly to my body shop today. Pictures will be posted tomorrow night.
