    0-60 sucks

i was just driving my car around one late night, and I decided to try and clock my 0-60mph times. It turns out they suck compared to the stats Ive seen around for both corollas and others. I think The best run I got was 0-60 in approx. 10 seconds. Even though my numbers are horrible, i manage to keep up with a lot of cars on the street. Anyone else see this in their car?

XRS does 7 seconds ( or less if you switch rims)

That's a pretty standard time. Esp if you're auto. What did you expect? 6 seconds?

umm you might be the only honest person on here. my old corolla was right at about 9.5. and people would always tell me they were getting low to mid 8s. i still don't see how an 03 ce can do an 8.1 when the xrs can only do an 7.5. but what ever.

Considering car and driver magazine tested the 0-60 in 7 seconds, I would believe them more than your salesperson ( 2000 Civic Si does a 0-60 in 7.3 secs).

true but some of the test drivers in car and driver mag are race car drivers or have had experience in the professional driving world. so in actuallity u have to consider urs won't be as fast.

Hmmm. Yeah true, but I have heard some people getting a 0-60 in 6.8 secs ( blckrolla on Toyotanation) but I beat a Jetta 1.8T in my first race ( After hearing me hit lift, he chased me down to the traffic light and lined up with me started revving on me. I did not want to race him plus my launch sucks since I am struggling with getting the clutch and gas pedal timing correct and I would have been caught by a cop so as soon as he punched it on green light, I waited for him to get 3-4 car's length ahead of me and then I did a soft launch and gunned the gas. Redlined at 8500 RPM and then shifted to second and redlined again at 8500 RPM. I was ahead of him by half a car's length and slowed down) :)

depending on what year and motor you have... if its an automatic, times should float around 9.5-15 seconds going from 0 to 60..

ok so its not just me? I live in las vegas and as you would guess, it gets stinking hot out here! I usually average like 12 seconds in the mid-day heat, and when it cools down to like 85 degrees at night, thats when I run the 10's. Maybe as the winter comes along Ill be making 9's or even 8's. Does this mean my 1/4 mile time probably sucks too? like i asked in the first post, how is it that even with the crappy 0-60 time, can i keep up with most cars out there?

my best was somewhere between 8 and 9 seconds in my auto...of course i was going downhill...

...that's why i always race either on the highway or from a roll.

i can do go fast on my bike downhill too.. i typically get about 12ish-13 seconds during the really hot summer days in my auto- and i dont think autos are effected by the driver either

i consider my downhill times almost like cheating. I can get 8-9 seconds downhill, but i usually try to find a strip thats free of bumps, no inlcline/decline just so i can get true numbers. so all in all, does 0-60 times determine what i should expect for my 1/4 mile time?

i've timed by 0-100kmh in the 94 auto corolla (4afe) between 10.8 and 11.2 all the time... its the launch that sucks, car only starts to pull around 40kmh (damn 3 spd automatic)... from 80 to 135kmh though, it pulls as hard as lot of standard cars with the same approx. hp... which is cool...

assuming people lie about this stuff left and right? so you run a 0-60 in around 6 seconds? what is your 1/4 mile time?

actually, never mind, new quesiton... if my car had the same specs, same mods, but was a 5 speed manual, would i be running the 0-60 a lot different?

Figure about 1 to 1.2 seconds less... if you can drive stick well... and it also depends on gear ratios too... how sticky your tires are, etc...

Yes you will be atleast 1 second faster on the 0-60 and anywhere between 0.6 to 0.9 seconds faster on the quarter mile. Lesser body weight with the same power and the closer ratios on a 5 speed manual as opposed to the 4 speed manual with the extra gear make all the difference.
