Then again, if I see rust anywhere, I can get it sorted out without paying a nickel. Considering it snows and there is salt on the road in my city.

It seems the rarest color is white. I've seen blue, SSM, a gunmetal like color, and black on dealer lots.

Traded my S for an XRS

It is official now. My 04 Corolla S is gone and I have traded in for an 05 Corolla XRS in silver streak mica. I drove it for 20 minutes around the block before returning it to the dealership and I am very happy with my decision. I was able to squeeze out a good deal from them. Considering my car was just a year old, they let me out of my S for $1300 and threw in a full security system since my security system could not ported over to the new as the remote starters for automatic and manuals are different. So they basically told me to leave it in and they will throw a new one in for me. I got undercoating, paint protection, rust protection done on it. I will pick my XRS up next saturday.

No I paid for it. Considering the snow and the salt, if you get a hint of rust anywhere, they will fix everything free of charge. Isn''t that worth the peace of mind considering I am going to keep this car for a long time??

congrats man! just be easy on it for alittle while, keep those rpms down and act like your 60 and just bought an oldsmobile! :) also: how much was the sticker price? my local dealer has a red one for about 20,125...kinda high if you ask me..since the msrp is 17k'ish...

Man, I tried so hard, the car practically begs you to push it hard. I kept telling myself to keep the revs down, but I actually hit lift 2 or 3 times. I am going to have to work on it...LOL It roars, purrs and whirrs all the way and keeps changing attitudes. I realized to keep the revs down and drive like a normal low revving car, you have to frantically shift since the revs build so fast.

Thanks a lot man. Very happy with my decision. Now I will have some real fun in everyday driving with a hot rod, of all the cars, Corolla ....LOL. Yes black is probably the best color and the 05s look best in this color because there are no amber lights at the back. My only beef with dark colors are that they get dirty very quickly, they show rock chips a lot more than lighter colors. Plus, I have an excellent experiences with silver and the new silver shade is better than the titanium silver S I had so it is all good :)

Thanks a lot guys. Since I have not driven much of stick shift cars for the last 5 years or so ( my parent's cars were 80s model 4 speed manual cars I learnt driving on). I have to be very careful with the clutch and misshifts. These are two main concerns I have at the moment.

Before you follow the dealership's manual on how to break a car in, I suggest you read...

    http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

    THAT.

I've asked a lot of mechanics about it, and they all say it's the way they broke in their car and it works. So maybe you don't have to keep those revs too low. I learned about it a little too late after getting my car.

Also, driving it like a grandma at a constant RPM is worse for the car than powering through. You need to go through the RPMs and varying speed. The manual even says not to stay at a constant speed.

So good luck with that. I suggest you follow Motoman's advice, but it's up to you.

LOL, NRM. Thanks dude. I was surprised (almost shocked to see this post) since it is about 6 months old when my XRS was brand new and the close shift gates and clutch was taking it's toll on my head. Between that day and today. I have raced about 17 cars (give or take a few)..LOL. I can shift pretty fast now and keep the revs high and not too bad at the clutch either.:D
