    Lots of questions on lights

So I got 2 15 inch neon sticks that I am going to be installing underneath my dash.

I have some questions not sure how many, but here it goes. I am wondering what gauge of wire do I have to have?

I bought 12 gauge ground and power cord, and I am going to be hooking it up directly to the battery through a rocker switch. I was wondering is that going to be ok?

Also I was wondering what is the size of the dome light in the 2003 corolla? I was wanting to swap it for a blue LED one.

And I should definately have an inline fuse from the neons to the car battery right? Can I get the inline fuse at autozone?

Wire is plenty good, Inline fuse holder near battery connection (yes, auto parts store, plastic fuse types are available)

    Dome light is # 3175 31mm X 10mm

I got a glass 12 gauge that is a 30a, I think it will work fine. Right now I am trying to make a cover for the thing on the left of the steering wheel to hold the switches.

    I am having a hard time :(

Is there a specific type of fuse I need to get? Or just any fuse?

Small current rating maybe 10-15 amps would do. (you may get by with less, the smaller you can get by with the better for safety)

At that fuse current your wire may go before the fuse !!! Those lamps can't draw a lot of current, I would get a smaller fuse and use it ( it will fit in your new holder) CW

I was going to buy the ones like I have for my amp.

It's like a little plastic case that holds a 2 prong fuse, and then the plasitc covers the top. The problem was, it didn't say what kind of fuses it holds.

So should I return it and then get what type of fuse?

It's not really the type (glass or plastic, either will work) you just need a lower current than 30 amps. Just take your 30 amp with you to match physical size and ask for a 10 amp and it will fit right in. CW

Well I now managed to break everything on my car.

I bought a little point thing to test 12v wiring. So I am not getting any power to my end, where my rocker switch is going to hook up the neon.

So I go and get the wire tester and to make sure the bulb isn't broken, I push it into my power cord going to my amp, it lights up. So I am like ok, this is before the fuse on the amp power cord. Then I check it after the fuse and it works fine.

So then I check it before the fuse on my power cord going to my rocker switch. It lights up, so I check it after the fuse with a 15 amp fuse in. It lights up, this is all in the engine bay next to the battery.

So then I go to where the rocker switch is and I try and test the power cord for the neons there....nothing happens. I try and fiddle with the cord running through the grommet into the driver seat. Now I check it again, nothing, so I check the amp power cord running through the same grommet....nothing.

I go back to the battery and check both cords, nothing. Doesn't light up. Now my headunit won't turn on. So I have no radio and I am not getting power from either of those cords.

Which is wierd, the car starts fine. Everything work, headlights turn on, but the amp/radio and the neon lights won't turn on.

    I am getting frustrated.
