My friend who owns the XRS was telling the story of him playing chicken on the freeway with a guy with a V6 Intrepid. Whil trying to merge on the freeway the Intrepid V6 guy actually gunned the gas instead of yielding to my friend and that pissed him right off. He downshifted from 5th down to 3th and rev climbed right up 7500 RPM and before the Intrepid guy knew, he was gone. I was laughing when my friend kept referring to Corolla a piece of shit from the Intrepid guy's perspective saying, "you wanna mess around with a piece of shit Corolla, I will show you how to do it!". That just cracked me right up.

    just test drove an xrs

when i was out with my mom today i wanted to see if i could actually drive one. i wasn't sure if our dealership would have one. well they did. lets just say i was quoted 19500 for it. i personally wouldn't pay that but o well. the car was a blast. very rev happy. quiet motor at low rpms. i personally didn't like the seating position and the pedal placemnet. they were too damn close to each other.the clutch is like whoa! seriously it is good. u have to shift fast and keep the rpms up or the car loses them fast. i think i scared my mom a little bit but o well.

overall i was very impressed just thought i would share.

My friend with an XRS has been a member of racing club. He has been racing a lot of modified and riced out Civics and so far he has only lost one race by 2 car's length to a Integra Type R with some mods. His XRS is completely stock right now.

It's good to hear that. Now I can feel more confident driving my car now.

Yeah he is nuts about his XRS and has been really tempting to get it soon. ( I might get in the next few weeks).

well i will say this. the xrs def feels faster than a civic si 99-00 but i don't think it feels faster than a prelude or an gsr. just my impression. the pedals should def be further apart. what was toyota thinking. my damn shoes got caught on the pedals the first couple of shifts.

XRS vs. Prelude or XRS vs. GS-R stock on stock should be a driver's race. The GS-R and XRS have strikingly similar stats. Same torque, same peak horspower (XRS curb weight: 2670 lbs GS-R curb weight: 2800 lbs). The difference is that the XRS has more high-tech than the GS-R with electronic drive by wire throttle and VVTL-i as opposed to the simple
V-TEC in the GS-R and the 6 speed manual transmission in the XRS vs. the 5 speed manual in the GS-R.

Yeah I heard the same thing in some reviews. Although, I am a size 11 and never had problems during fast shifting. Are you bigger than size 11??

I agree on the seating position.

I also agree the car is a blast to drive.

It is there for a reason though so I would rather not disable it. The reverse is so close to the 1st gear like European cars that you can easily mistake the reverse with the 1st gear.

Yeah, a lot of people in NA drool over the T Sport thinking it is superior to the NA Corolla XRS when T Sport is really a Matrix XRS with the first generation 2ZZ GE engine with poor low end torque and Corolla XRS is far superior to T Sport in handling, city driving and acceleration ( I hate the way T Sport looks as well).

I just read about the revised corolla T-Sport over in europe. It has the original 180 hp 2zz-ge in it. weighs in at 2750. But get this, it does 0-60 in 8.4 secs. Thats as fast as our 130 hp 03-up corollas. That really sucks lol.
