sorry, dude....dunno much about coilovers, only know that they are adjustable heights compared to fixed height strut/spring swap. nothing much other than that. what's the downside of having a coilover instead of those strut/spring combo?

with the coilovers you wouldnt have to replace your stock struts though right? or i ment they would work best with stock struts then regular lowering springs?

no aftermarket spring will be a happy camper on stock strut assembly..it'll feel like a bitch and it will blow out VERY FAST

coilovers are the STRUT + SPRING ASSEMBLY TOGETHER
they're height adjustable and stiffness adjustable and usually gives you better handling

springs + struts on the other hand, might give you a super bumpy ass ride and give a couple shocks up the ass, but are cheaper

but if you think about it, coil overs/dampers last longer than the springs/strut combo

    200+300 for some springs/strut = 500 bucks
    coil overs about 1000 bucks

but over a period of time, say a year or so, your strut will give out, and you'll have to buy them again..

it seems some of you might be confused about coil overs and dampers..

this is a REAL coilover set up, aka damper [IMG]

these are your traditional lowering springs with no height adjustments available [IMG]

these are crap ass coil over set ups that allow you to adjust your cars height, but do NOT come wiht the strut assembly, these require aftermarket struts like kyb or tokico's, SAME AS LOWERING SPRINGS, but with height adjustable feature [IMG]

    coilover or spring+struts?

shall I go with Tein coilover or Tein S.tech+Tokico struts?
ppl told me that after factor everything in, Tein coilover tends to be cheaper.....

if we put the money issue aside, it's always better to go with coilover, am I correct? (since they are made of same company, no mismatching problems....right?)

When you say Coilover i think you're talking about their damper kit. Yeah, i hear it's awesome cause theres like a gazillion ways to adjust them. Downside is they're about $1500+. But if you're really looking into seriously getting one, I'm sure you'll be satisfied. They're made really for the older model corollas but they fit onto the 98-02's also. Another thing, JIC makes damper kits too.

in the long run, the traditional spring/strut combo will die out on you, and you'll end up paying more for them, than buying dampers in the first place..but it just depends on what you plan on doin with your car, if its just a beater with a nicer exterior, go ahead with springs/struts, if you want to be a hardcore racer with superior handling, go with dampers, they're fully adjustable and can be adjusted to YOUR liking, so you wont have to adapt to the suspension..

also, if you only plan on keeping your car for a while, i say just go for springs/strut, it's cheaper than purchasing a full set of dampers

well they dont reall make much for the 98-02, but keep in mind, 93-02 suspensions are the SAME, yes..the same, cha ching..more parts for us..

hp racing makes a damper, about 1300
JIC makes a damper, if you got 1600 to blow
tein HA makes a damper, it's not listed on their site, but call em up, who knows, they might have some lying around, and if they say they dont have it for 98-02, ask for 93-97..

if you want springs, tein S tech are awsome, a lot of people have em here, they're low, bout 2" in front, 1.4" rear, kind bouncy..

tein h tech are smoother ride, not as low, less an an inch i think..more expensive than s tech

i got sprint extreme springs for sale in my for sale thread, 85+ shipping, they drop 2.0/2.0", gives the car a pretty mean stance, you're gonna have to roll your fenders if you plan to put even 16" rims with 215/40/16 on it

    intrax is anohter company

there's a bunch out there, just gotta look around, but stay away from obx for sure, they're crap

and NOTE: everytime you lower the car, you're gonna need an alignment if you dont want camber wear
