    Linksys Wireless

I have a linksys router, and a linksys wireless card.

My system recongizes the router, but it says that it cant find the internet.

Im going to uninstall the software, and start from scratch using the Linksys website this time, and see if that works.

Anyone else have this problem in the past, and what could the problem be?

Did you try calling Linksys for technical assistance? My wife called them when we installed ours.

The router may be just ouside of range of the card. My linksys says the same thing when it fails to get assigned an IP address.
XP: Try Start > Run > ipconfig /renew
9X: Try Start > Run > winipcfg hit 'renew all'

It works fine to mine. I have that Linksys G-wireless router (dunno what it calls). I just follow the instruction when I installed it. I works fine. Why didnt you follow the instructions at first??

e - hardwire the computer to the router, then see if that works.

ahhh. E, i remember... i called tech support and they walked me through this process, and i used this window where i toggled an option in config, and then replugged in and out the wireless input, and then it eventually worked. i did NOT have to reinstall. call them, it's worth it.

Yeah, I still havent had time to mess with it.

Ive had other systems on wireless, but this one is giving me problems.

Im going to work on it tomorrow, since I have off work. (Between painting and shampooing my floors, hehe)

go to start>control panel>system> then click on the Device Manager. Go down the list and see if there's a exclamation point next to the PCI card. If there is, then click on it and hit properties. It'll most likely say that the driver is not installed. If it says that then put in the cd that came with the card. click on Re-Install Driver. let it search the CD and let it install. You may need to restart. But after you do, it should work.

I had the very same issue a few days ago when my computer crashed. and the both times I had to reinstall everything, the very same thing happened.

Edit: Nevermind. Didn't see you had the connection to the router established already. Try resetting the router. Maybe by resetting it, it'll pick up the internet. Had to do that a few times and eventually it picked up the internet.

ipconfig /renew tells it to look for a DHCP server on the network and it actively starts sending packets saying 'here I am.. gimme an address' until it fails or gets one.

    Finally got it working.

My first router ended up having a defective WLAN, so I had to go out and buy another. Linksys is going to refund my money for the first router.

Then I was having issues with the encryption and the two WAP keys...but finally, after all day yesterday and a few hours today, finally got it working!

Now that I moved, Im having a very hard time getting it working....I have connection, but cant access the internet.

I finally got around to printing out instructions from linksys.com

My problem is my actual cable line connection on the computer physically broke, so in order to use a land line, I have to hold it in the port.....PITA. I need to get my wireless working!!! Ive been missing out on some great porn downloads!
