97 corolla dx problems, check engine light

hey ya, i'm on here from the recently closed down corolla customz board. i drive a 97 corolla dx 1.8l. i have been having trouble starting up my car in damp weather and i think the distributor is to blaim. i took it apart and the parts inside were all rusted, plus it's the original part, so i'm sure it could use to be replaced. in wet weather, my car will start, but the engine will not run...unless i give it some gas while i start, it will never start up...the other night was terriblely humid after a storm and it took some gas to start it...then, it didn't want to idle...i had to give it gas to idle, otherwise it would stall out. i have new wires and plugs installed, both work great and are correctly gapped.
the big alarming problem to me is that my check engine light came on. i had it scanned at auto zone, it showed up to be a camshaft position sensor. i checked my hayne's manual for the part...and it couldn't be found...perhaps the odb2 scanner meant crankshaft position sensor?? i can't even find a cam position sensor online anywhere, maybe someone can help, thanks!

im quite sure the 93-97 has a camshaft postition sensor. Look thru the part of the manual where it talks about troubleshooting problems. Look for camshaft stuff. Im not sure. i dont have the book infront of me.
