TRD is quiet, you won't get attention from cops, only problem is the price. It's costs an arm and a leg since it says "TRD" on it. I go with TRD. :D

Well, talk the most Matrix owners and they'll all tell you they love their Magnaflow systems. I can't find any videos of Corolla's with the Magnaflow but here is a video of the Magnaflow system on a Matrix from one of the Matrix owners at MatrixOwners.com

Go to this site and click on a title that says Magnaflow exhaust
    http://mase.neptune.com/

Posted here on MatrixOwners.com is another video.
Go to this site, they have 3 links posted but only one works, right-click the middle link provided, save-as, and enjoy :)

ummm, the Magnaflow isn't exactly loud unless you hit higher revs. Under normal driving conditions the exhaust is not exactly noticeable enough to grab the attention of cops. The Matrix guys claim that on idle the CAI is louder than the exhaust.

So, like I said, if you are worried about warranty, go with TRD. If your going for a show car and you want to have all TRD parts, go with TRD, but if you don't have either, there is no need to spend the extra cash for a TRD exhaust when you cen get a great quality system for plenty cheaper.

I would go with the Magnaflow one. I like the way it sounds.

I would go with TRD only if...

    1. You were worried about warranty.
    2. You like the sound of the TRD one better.

Since I don't care about warranty and I like the sound of the Magnaflow system. I would go with the Magnaflow one.

well....mine is a 98' rolla, so the warranty period is over anyway....

how exactly does the Magnaflow sound like? (sample on the net I can try out?) and which series of the Magnaflow muffler are you guys talking about? is it the "Magnaflow Universal fit" ones? sorry...kinda new with Magnaflow...

did all my research on TRD only.....it's supposed to give you a deep, nice tone and yet, doesn't exceed the db limit, right?

thanks for the link....it's really halpful!!

so, really....if I compare TRD muffler with other brands....

performancewise, they are all the same(don't really get a power gain if switch muffler only), and the extra $bling $bling on TRD muffler just give me "NAME" and "WARRANTY", that's it?

Pretty much. Quality wise is great between the two. Both mufflers offer nice tones that aren't super ghetto loud. Both systems pretty much give you the same performance gains (which is minimal if any). TRD is just a name and warranty.

Well yeah, but whether it's Magnaflow or TRD, the aftermarket exhausts he's comparing along with a CAI and header is gonna be loud. There are two different types of loud though. There is the HIGH pitched squeels and tinny sounds from the nasty exhaust systems, then there is the deep throaty sound from types like TRD, Magnaflow, Borla, etc. etc.

How much hp/torque would you expect to gain from one of those mufflers + say an EL prototype CAI? Or do you need to change the piping too?

one last question.....I checked out Magnaflow's site....they have so many different types of mufflers...(we are talking about the Universal ones, right...they don't make a specific one for Corolla only....)

are they the same(soundwise) just that having different looks? the straight pipe ones and the ones that looks more like out stock muffler?

    thanks a lot!!

there is a big difference b/t different mufflers.....some bullet types offer louder sound, whilst ones that look rectangular (like stock muffler) offer a quieter tone...so each one is gonna be a little different..

I know that Magnaflow offers a full cat-back system for the 03+ Corollas and thats about it.

No two mufflers ound exactly the same. Straight pipe ones tend to be a bit louder that the stock looking ones. But TRD and Magnaflow try and go with the same type of Muffler. The more deeper tones while quiet on idle.

not unless they can prove that the muffler was the cause of the problem
