    Ok, here's a question to add in. WHat about gas treatment and fuel injector/carb treatment? how do those fit into the octane mess?

    I still laugh when people say after they put 93 in their tanks, they feel faster. When in fact their wasting their money, plain and simple.

    Those people are correct. It does give you more HP. Look it up in your Toyota manual.

    so a fuel that is harder to burn and carries less power per unit somehow helps an economy car make more power?

    please elaborate, and dont do it to justify your extra expendeture on high octane

    oh, and all fuel starts the same.... additives are added to reduce its ability to combust (higher octane)

    and yeah, i put 91 in my car once, and i didn't feel a difference, my cousin puts 93 in his STOCK ASS 93 civic hatch and thinks he's king of the world with his single cam piece of shit

    i dont know how anyone could afford the higher gas these days..i mean- its just rediculous- unless you boosted and require the octane, but i believe its just wasting precious cash..

    damn...this topic comes up at least once every six months. FaisalCorollaS, can u tell me how octane, a chemical that is mixed with gas to make it less combustible, will give u more hp or better gas mileage from a car that doesn't have a turbo, supercharger, or high compression motor with an ecu to compensate for high octane fuels?

    I'm not so sure about that...I have had my victims drink tons of alcohol before and it is not any easier to start them on fire than when they are sober, and they certainly haven't exploded...
