Price for Acura RL revealed for Canada

The MSRP for the new Acura RL with SH-AWD ( super handling all wheel drive) will be $69999. That translates to about $50 something K in US. No matter how good it is, it is way overpriced considering you can get the Lexus LS430 and GS430 for lesser price than that and with a V8 instead of a V6. Although, it is all wheel drive, which should be an attraction for Canadians because of the weather, but there are many other all wheel drive cars such as BMW 3x series, Jaguar X Type, Saab X series available in Canada for much cheaper price. Not to mention, the next generation Lexus GS300 will be available with all wheel drive train.

The TSX - Yes (should have more HP. Although, the long list of standard features is a plus), RSX - hell yes. Way overpriced like the Celica GT-S. The TL- Hell no! The TL is actually the best bang for the buck. You could not get a better car for that price. The RL on the other hand, used to be $45K in Canada and now they have jacked the price up by a whoping $24K. Considering the Acura name plate, I doubt many will be willing to spend that much amount on an Acura.

you can get a brand new LS430 for less than C$69k? where?
the base LS430 starts at C$83k. add the premium package, it jumps up to about C$88k. add the sport package with nav., it jumps up to C$93k.

I actually looked it up and the MSRP for GS series is 61K to 69K. 69K being the GS430 so Acura RL costs the same as a V8 GS430. Not to mention, the next IS series is going to have ( i.e IS350 GT) will have a V8 as well with 3.5L 310 HP. That is more than the RL as well and I doubt the IS will be more than 55-60K Canadian.

Yes, that is what the whole post is about. It is a very nice looking car with Honda quality written all over, but is Acura ready to fight the battle with heavy weights like Lexus GS430, IS, BMW 5 series and MB?? I doubt it.

I agree about the TL being a bargain. A fully loaded TL for $31,000 @ 270HP or a moderately equipped ES330 @ 225HP for the same price.

Yeah, I would pick an Acura TL over an ES330 anyday.

I am atleast as loyal to Lexus/Toyota as much as you are, but ES330 is for old people and that is why I said that. But, then again the new IS300 is going to be out next year, through which Lexus will once again revolutionalize sports sedans like they revolutionized the luxury car segment in the early 90s and had BMWs and Mercedes scrambling for cover.
