What's a good brand for brake caliper paint?

What's a good brand for brake caliper paint?

I just bought a can of it from pep-boys...the color didn't turn out the way i wanted it (it's way too light for a blue), and I really wanted to aim for the dark blue that I usually see pre-painted on some brake calipers. What brand gives the closest color paint to that? I wanted to make sure this time before buying another one (it's only 6 bucks...but the G2 I just checked out costs $32...it's a kit, but...I want to make sure). Any suggestions?

i'm thinking of giving the calipers a glossy look in addition to the paint. i'm thinking of just getting a can of plain ol' gloss from home depot's paint department. problem is i'm not sure if it'll work for brake calipers, where it constantly takes a huge beating. anything i need to know about the gloss? or is what i'm about to do actually going to work?

I've heard g2 is pretty good but you may also want to try some high temp engine paint I believe that works as well and might have the shade of blue your looking for.. cheaper alternative to g2

I used duplicolor chevy red (or ford red something like that) high temp engine paint on mine.

I checked the swatches on duplicolor site - I've found the paint you were talking about. But there seems to be a difference between engine enamel (which is the one you told me about) and high-heat paint, difference being the enamel can withstand 500 degrees F and high-heat paint at 1200 degrees F. But I can see why you chose that chevy red...the high-heat paint has very few swatches to choose from, not to mention all of them are obnoxiously bright colors. But with all that aside, how is the paint on your brakes? Any signs of wear/tear yet?

that kit you are talking about takes too much work. it not a spray can, it like a can of paint, brake cleaner and a mixing stick. and they have it in blue, black, silver, yellow and red.

much work, yes. but it gives you GLOSS (like anyone cares)

but thanks guys, i decided to look again at my nearest pep boys and found the engine enamel that i want. i'll probably use it to paint a lot of things (including my hair >_> )

i work at pep boys and at all i wouldnt use those brake caplier paint. the engine is good stuff but the caliper paint is a big joke in the plastkote brand.

HAHA you're telling me. My friend wants to paint his brake calipers, but I want to wait until I'm done with the new disc brake kit I'm ordering in a week or so. We got the brake caliper paint, and on the cap it looks like a dark blue...when you actually paint it, it turns into this homo light blue. His car is black, so with that color it looks like a bar of dark hershey's with a touch of tropical skittles.

Needless to say, we're repainting his caliper (it's kinda my fault because I used him as a guinea pig)

I painted mine with 1500° wood stove paint And it looks blood red for a while but eventually it turned orange. If you find a good paint let me know
