Ok, a friend of mine's Husband got a Lancer Evolution when it first came out. Today I stoped by the gas station she works at and saw that she had drove the EVO to work...LOL.. So needless to say I had to try to test drive this thing, So I pestered her for a little while and finally she gave me the keys and told me I had 30 minutes. I love EVO's, I pulled out of the gas station and just streched first out real slow to about 4k, then I laid into it. MY GOD, the whole car goes BOOOMMMMM and takes off, 1st, quick 2nd, short pop to 3rd. This thing is doing around 90. I turned to go down a slightly curvy back road that is known in town. I put it in first and TRY TO BURN Rev it and dump the clutch, the car goes BBBBOOOOMMMMM everything in the car not tied down goes flying toward the rear floarboard and the car takes off like the fucking starship Enterprise in Warp 9. I hit 2nd, 3rd, then a big curve comes up, I come into it Way to fast, blip the brakes and turn hard, hit the gas, and this thing rides this curve like a Rail. I took it back after that. Man I was REALLY IMPRESSED.

i've seen an evo8 do a 90 degree turn at about 30 mph, thing turned so smooth and sounded so nice..bit of tire screeching, but hey, its all in fun right? it seems to me, people buy more evo8's than sti's in my city..

It's the same here, But honestly I would rather have a STi, mainly because Mitsubishi in my mind stands for Unreliable. Mainly due to there Automatic trannies you have to swap when you change your oil, and a little design flaw called CRANK WALK.

Try a Neon SRT-4. I saw a video a few months ago where the SRT-4 smoked the EVO 3 times in a row like a rabbit beats a snail. ;-)

I have kept up with a Evo on a backroad with no problem. the driver was really crappy

but the srt4 will never be the car the evo is.

hmm that kool. but how does a guy that works at a gas station honesty make payments on it. he must own it. my dad and i tried to drive one but tehy wanted a 500 deposit on the car just to test drive it.

i can vouce nate kept up with an evo on the twisites..

try the MR Evo thats gonna be even crazier and its here late this yr or next yr...

Still, I would love to drive one. And evo > srt4... could care less about specs, bang for buck, etc. The evo is an overall better car.

u guys crack me up. a car that does less than a 6 sec 0 to 60 with the shittest driver possible and u can keep up with him. even with a turbo thats not happeing. and nobody that owns a evo could be a suckie driver. lets just think about how sensitive the engine is and not to mention the clutch. u have to be decent.

that makes me feel good then. My car with just rims, tires, exhaust and a intake can keep up with a EVO on a backroad

ok let me put it to u this way. my brothers corolla can't keep up with my civic. my civic can't keep up with my moms accord, and my moms accord can even touch my dads wrx. and a wrx is still slower than a evo. u need to keep of the green stuff. an on a back road to u mean dirt. because awd owns on dirt....

I am talking on a twisty backroad thats paved, I was getting on the corners, on the little straights there where he was owning me.

well i still find that hard to believe. corners is all about balance. i personally wouldn't take corners at a high rate of speed, ( i was in the back seat of an eclipse when crashed doing 75.) so i have been careful since then.

I was hitting between 60 and 70 on this road

i drove an sti last night. now granted it was to and from a party and the speed limit was 35 mph. but come on. i know what a 300 4.9 second 0 - 60 feels like at full throtle to about 45. and the cornering was like u are on rails. and i doubt that an sti or evo have understeer. can a corolla even ahve understeer. i just find it hard to believe.

Dude, get it in your head, ur rolla is nothing compared to an evo and will never beat the evo in any type of race, if you beat him, then he sucked or w/e but dont think ooo shit i beat an evo! its just stupid.

I sure hope you weren't facing a lancer who modded it to look like an evo (seen 2).
