    Another Turbo

I was looking around for a turbo to replace SF and TSI and this is what I found

    http://www.overboost.com/obs/produc...id=34126&mode=1

I asked him how they are working the fuel system and about if it came with a interr cooler.
Here is the email I got back from them.

Hi Nathan, this turbo kit retains the stock style in-tank pump and regulator.
Fuel control is accomplished with a version of the Power FC. The kit does not
come with an intercooler, but only because at 7 psi the 1ZZ is making a LOT of
power. (I guess A'PEXi figures if you're going to bump the boost, adding an
intercooler would be a simple job.)

That seems like it would be a huge turbo with lots of lag if its used in bigger engine drag cars. Plus it can't be 00-04...wouldn't all be the same between the two models. Once again its another fishy kit...but good find

P18 is one of Apexi smaller turbos and it is ball bearing.. 00-04 has the same engine.. Apexi Power FC is widely used in Turbo Nissans.. it is being sold on the overboost store and manufactured by the best name in turbos ever.. Apexi! How is that fishy?

chassis code doesn't matter, its not a suspension part only thing thats matter is the engine and its already stated that it is for 1ZZ-FE

^ actually I think mncrolla is right. The manifold on the MR-S is different. of course you could always have a shop make you a custom one.

It is for an MRS not a Corolla so the manifold would not work for our cars. Notice the chassis code, ours is ZE110.

how is it fishy. prolly you havent been in the import scene. That kit is meant for the MRS. in Japan it used there widely for street and race. This name is very popular all around. GREAT quality and GREAT Performance.

You realize that the MR-S uses the same motor but the exhaust manifold is completely different, the ecu is different, and the placement of the engine is different???

If you purchase the kit you are going to have to rework the manifold, the intercooler piping, the down pipe, the PowerFC will have to be hard wired and tuned completely from scratch. You are wasting your time with this kit. You would have much better luck if you started with a TSI or Stafford kit and make it work.

The block, head and internals are the only things that are the same across chassis codes that share the 1zz-fe.

Learn a little before you start arguing with people about stuff you don't know...

I am glad you replied to this. I almost went into an idiot bashing tirade when I read his reply, but your response had much more tact and far less profanity than what I felt like saying. Why do people who don't know what they are talking about feel like spewing forth there knowledge unto others? Oh well, thanks again for the reply!

Well excuse me people I found this and if it dont work ohh well no need to bite my fucking head off.

Ohh and Jeff I am 23 not 17 unlike you and this turbo will happen, I dont want to install it myself cause I dont feel like doing that. So going to a shop will insure that its done right and that its tuned right.

Nate, It would be foolish to buy a kit thats made for a different car. Im sure there are Major differences as far as placement of things in the engine bay, some of which may not be easily fixed by having a shop fab up some piping.

Besides, you know theres absolutely NOWHERE here in DE that you'd probably feel comfortable bringing your car for a custom turbo. Only 2 shops are Carversion and Racer-X, and I highly doubt either has any experience turboing corolla's. the SF kit may not be perfect, but until someone comes out with something better thats Corolla specific they are your best bet.

Give it like 2 or 3 years, have to get the money and the place to work on the car. cause the turbo is not the only thing happening to that motor or tranny or differential.
