Major difference between Toyota and Honda owners

Now it is going down to a point where I can''t help, but wonder. What is it with Honda owners?? ( not all of them, I am not making a generalization). They are very overly aggressive. They just can't do without showing the next person and their car down. Toyota owners on the other hand are much more down to earth and realistic about their vehicles capabilities. I mean I have literally seen a lot of RSX owners claiming that they can blow the doors off the Subaru WRX, Mitsu EVO, Corvette etc. and that a stock Type S does a 0-60 in 4 secs  ( official 0-60 of Type S is 6.5 secs) Someone has to be on a high dose of crack to think of it like this. Moreover, I have seen Honda owners have a BIG beef with Toyota owners. Just look at the MSN car review sites and you will see that literally every Toyota site is littered with spamming Honda owners reviews (whereas, you will see almost no spam on the Honda sites by Toyota owners) and how the Honda in that class is much superior to the like of Toyota Sienna, Solara, Camry, Celica etc. You name it, there would be spammers on that Toyota vehicle site. I am beginning to think that there is a sharp distinction between the mindset of most the owners of the two brands. Just could not help, but wonder.

    crazy.

    look at www.redpepperracing.com

very devoted Honda enthusiasts, most of whom respect other marques...

when it comes down to it, i will always love my CRXs and Civic more than my Prizm. The Prizm has been a better car, but about as thrilling as filing my tax return.

I see plenty of riced out Corollas/Tercels/Paseos/Camrys with owners who say "Honda sucks" every third sentence... it's all perspective.

Mitsubishi owners, however, are all tossers... ;)

i'm a honda and toyota owner!!!! lol..i guess people in honda's are more cocky because they have a bit of power to start with and have a large aftermarket support, us corolla's on the other hand, get a 120 hps engine to start with, then lack of aftermarket parts, we dont bother to race anything up there

when i was in the SI, i had about 180hp..ish JDM motor, intake, header, exhaust, that should gimme at least 10 hps lol, anyways, i liked being in the SI, it was more fun, handling was way better, power was always there, torque wasn't =P just like the corolla..but overall, i liked racing in the SI more than my sluggish corolla

i second that...who cares, it's a freaking car. they're just as good as the next import. just because it's got an H or a Toyota symbol doesn't mean it's any better or worse than the next car.

Well off the bat, they are competitors for the #1 Auto manufacturer in Japan. They try to out-do each other in one way or another, but not necessarily like Ford and GM.

Secondly, It seems Toyota has taken longer to warm-up to the import tuning scene here in the states (with exception of the Supra & maybe MR2).

Being in a family that owns 2 Toyotas and a Honda, I'll tell you that we like the Toyotas better because they seem better in quality and more user friendly (in a real driving sense) At least to me anyhow.

We've had the 02' Odyssey in 4 times for warranty work already and the Service department at the local Honda dealership doesn't work well with the customers. My mother felt alot more "attached" to her 99' 4Runner. I like the Odysseys power but something about it doesn't feel right. My brothers 03 Corolla CE is an awesome car (except for that damn solid rear axle! ). My Corolla has been awesome overall. I LOVE the car.

I have driven a 90' Civic hatchback though and it was pretty fun! Its really light and drives like a go-kart. I once moved somebodies RSX-S and the car seemed pretty decent and well put together. I just don't like bird-like front end on the car (though from the 05 pics i've seen, it'll get better).

I will say that I go on some Honda forums and they generally are pretty aggressive.

I used to own a '90 Honda Civic and it was a blast to drive. It had 180K miles on it and it still drove like a new car and had no major problems. When I bought my '00 Corolla I was actually shopping for a new Civic hatch to trick out but they had not come out yet. I stopped by a Toyota dealership and they had some TRD wheels on a Corolla with the Molly designs body kit. I was just like "Whoa, now no one has a tricked out Corolla, maybe I should give that a shot," so I did. I still think the Civic was more fun to drive as it really did feel like a big go cart, and even with the 90hp it had, it would still chirp the tires if shifted hard into 3rd gear (a feat my rolla will barely do going into second). I do feel however that the overall build quality of the Toyota makes if feel more like a luxury car and I just like the way if feels much better in general than any civic I have driven. If I ever had to but another new car, it will probably be a Toyota unless I want something sporty. They are just great cars and you get a great feeling driving and owning one. I will own mine until it dies.

To keep this post on topic, I will say that every time I go to my local shop and there are some Honda guys there they kinda laugh and talk s**t under their breath, kinda like my car is a piece because it is a Corolla. Every Mitsu, Subaru, etc. owner I run into is like, "Whoa, that doesn't even look like a Corolla," and they seem excited to talk to me about my plans and stuff. Just seems weird, Civic owners in general just seem to look down on Corollas, probably because your average Civic with a few mods IS faster then our cars and speed = better. I am jealous that for $2K I could turbo a Civic and run low 15 quarters. To do that with my Rolla, it would take $10K and I think they know this. If I spent what I have spent on my car on a Civic, I would have a top show or top fuel drag car by now. The average kid who has spent the same amount of money as I have on their Civic does have a much cooler car and this makes some people feel like they have the right to talk smack about you. For the most part, there is not much that your average Rolla owner can say to win an argument with people like that and I think that is why Rolla owners are more humble in general. Your average Mistu or Sube owner knows that his Evo, Eclipse, WRX etc. is in a completely different class so he/she doesn't talk a lot of smack, they are just happy to see that someone is doing something different and they give you props for it. That is just my experience in general.

Now that the XRS has come out and TRD is selling a SC for the new Rollas, I think you will see a lot of Rolla owners that were pissed on by the Honda kiddies start to talk smack now because, for once, they can. Just by looking at the overall package, a new Corolla XRS or a base model with a SC is about the same cost as an SI Civic and both, in my opinion, are better, and faster.

    My nickel.

    2g's to make a civic run 15's?

i'd rather spend an extra 2g's to make it run 12's all day, just swap a LS vtec into a crx or hatch, those things are friggin fast..my friend has a delsol with ls vtec in there, it's pretty sweet, only thing sucks is his handling sucks

Its soo funny how honda (civic owners for the most part) talk so much shit about corollas. I know it's been the utimate rivalry between toyota and honda, but toyota have their TRD to back it up, with honda, not many people know about their performance counterpart. Its the R1 for crying out loud!!!! Man its sooo funny, my friend have a honda accord and he doesn't even know about who makes the performance oem for his ride. He think its also called TRD for honda lol

i think it's funny how everybody says that corollas are family cars and everybody uses the line "my grandma has one"....i don't think the "tightness" of a car should be determined by who drives it. if it looks good then it's tight, no matter what it is. and last time i checked people weren't buying civics in '95 to hook them up...at least not over here in the US

toyota has trd, but honda has mugen and spoon..did ya think about that? plus there are WAYYY more companies out there that carry stuff for honda, my SI for example, there are 6 companies that make a good quality cold air intake, plenty of companies that make good catback exhausts, header, all kinds of stuff..

and have you ever thought of why honda's are more popular among young people? cheap and wont cost that much money to get going

    crx shell - 800 dollars
integra or civic SI motor - about 2-4g's
    integra type r motor - about 5g's

overall, that's about 6g's in the WHOLE CAR, and that'll blow the doors off any corolla..

edit: i just thought of another pimp ass motor swap for a civic/hatch, crvtec, using a b20 block and b18 head, you get 8100 rpms with 170 hps and the torque of a mini suv..=D

My grandma and aunt both drive civics. I see plenty of old ladies and retired men driving them around town. I don't see why the Corolla gets pegged with the grandma label exclusively.

I think the whole topic is stupid. Were arguing about which car is slower, when u compare the Honda Civic to the Toyota Corolla. There both slow. And yes the Civic SI is slow and the Corolla XRS is slow. I don't feel that a loyallity to the brand is really true. THink about the Mustang Owners of America. People make a vacation about going to a car meet. I don't think that your car really reflects you personalitly that much. Its just a preference. Honda offers things that Toyota doesn't Honda cars are geared for a younger audience. Car designers realize this. Apparently Toyota still doesn't get it. They can't make a sports car that is reasonable price.

I am not loyal to anyone brand. But i think i will always own at least one honda or a toyota in my life. THere both great cars.

I don't know why this is still a discussion. IMO anyone, can own any car with any type of personallity. So that that means there are good and bad in both categories.

And i also give respect to anyones car that is clean and well done. even rice deserves props because they have spent their hard earned money to make there car look like shit.

And comparing the cars is kind of dumb too, car designers make cars that are in the same category. Just one example. THe latest MR2 to the S200. How can u compare those two cars. The S2000 is so much better in everyway.

well our family owns 3 toyota and 1 honda, and we had to take the honda for service more than we do for our 3 toyotas combined. I think that the toyota are nicer because teir engine is quieter, giving you the smooth ride sound. On the other hand, the honda engine tends to be noisier. Though I have to admit, the hondas have more aftermarket parts than toyota, but the quality of their aftermarket parts deminishes because they tend to copy from each other. With toyota, you either have to go with TRD or have somebody custom make one for you (especially the corolla) which makes our cars more unique. On the road you will see so many civic ricers out on there, but how many corolla's do you see all souped up? When you d, you will see very few so we stand out more. Alot of ricers don't look at corolla's because they are slow, but in japan corollas are used as drift cars. we are not meant for speed, but handling. When corollas are modded properly we can easily deceive other cars thinking we are slow, but we can just be as fast as them.

i have yet to drive a corolla that i would consider fast. since i have only meet 3 other people who actually sup up a corolla its kinda hard. and we need to clear up the word fast. my dad would tell me only cars that do the 0 - 60 in under 6 seconds are fast. i doubt there are any corollas that can do that.

as far as rice goes. there is always going ot be rice. most aftermarket manufacturers sell rice products as well has nice products. so if people didn't buy all the rice crap then u prob wouldn't have the good stuff.

my family owns two honda and one toyota. and we haven't had any problems with either. keep in mind very few toyotas or hondas have problems out of the factory. it is a matter of doing the required maintance.

i personally prefer toyota for the build quality. but i gotta agree, on honda boards, tehy act like their cars are the best, and nothing else can beat it (rsx owners try caliming that the rsx is so much better than rx8's, and shit  )

but on most of my toyota boards, tehy're cool to all cars. i mean i know a couple of corolla owners on teh rsx boards, and tehy're constantly flamed, even when tehy're agreeing with rsx owners, it's pretty fucked up.

I am a former civic owner. Yeah Honda's are nice..and cheap to maintain and repair. But overall corolla's are less problematic from what i've seen. Lately, last gen accord v6 had some tranny problems, but honda still makes kick a$s reliable 4 bangers. If i were to choose i4, it would be a honda, if i were to choose a v6, 3mzfe is what i'd choose!

if you own one or the other, i would think you would have at least some beef with other brands. People have natural reactions to defend what they have regardless if they are right or wrong.

Now that Im a honda Civic owner I must say that the Honda forums are not as friendly as corolla boards, and alot of them talk shit on anything Non-honda. you also seem to get more people who are just flat out retards and know NOTHING about cars.
