Yeah that is true that the HP on the average in NA is higher than the one''s sent to European/Asian countries. You are right when you say that there are sportscar in Japan that never made it to NA like the Skyline, 3000 gt etc., but they cannot sell cars here that have no market. People's taste in NA has been moving away from specialized sports cars to more practical cars with sporty appeal whereas, the market for such car still exists in Japan and some other countries. This has nothing to do with the engine power. It is merely a matter of taste that people have been preferring big SUVs and more practical cars over true sports cars now. As for the engine power, NA gets the most HP in the cars such as the Toyota Camrys and Solaras, Honda Accords, V8 Toyota 4 runners and Sequoias, Nissan G35, FX, Acura TL and the list would go on. Most of these cars are not even sent to countries in Europe and Australia. Another proof is that Europe and Japan get Diesel model for nearly every make of vehicles, which are very slow, but offer very good fuel economy. The biggest reason is that the gas prices are much lower here than they are in other continents.
